I'm beginning my classes for Law Enforcement and was told by another officer that I would have to purchase my own gear once I became an Officer. What is the basic gear (i.e. vest, belt, etc) that I will be wearing. I ask because I'll need to do some shopping around. Thanks, and God Bless!

If you have been hired by a Department, then that Department will furnish you with a list.
If you are putting yourself through an academy, contact the academy and ask them what items they require you to have. The academy can furnish the list.
You take these lists to approved uniform stores, and they set you up. Also, most approved uniform stores receive uniform and personal equipment lists from the departments around them, so if you go there they can ensure you get the correct stuff.

I'm pretty sure someone, somewhere at your agency has a comprehensive list.

Unless you will be working in PA. Then you are on your own.
