Has anyone here used the Surefire X300-400 or Streamlight TLR lights on a picatinny rail system?

If so how easily did they mount to a rifle, any special modifications? How well did it work out tactically? Any use of the x400 w/laser? I have read some issues where the laser wouldn't hold a zero.

Is it too much to ask for pics if they are available? I am looking at finally making some upgrades to my rifle when i get home and I'm looking for a quality light, I have pretty much narrowed it down to those two. I also like the surefire scout series but they are pricy as where my first two choices can also be used on my handgun if needed.

Also any preferences on optics? Acog is out, too pricey. Eotech and leupold's mark 4 cqt are the top two contenders on my list right now.

Any other items that anybody has put on an AR15 that they vind very useful in tactical situations? I am always up for suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

Attached is my rifle with an X400 on it. I thought about a vertical grip, but the barrel is so long that that would place the light in front of the barrel and it would get covered in soot. So, I use the mag well for grip and have replaced the X400 base plate to allow me to use a pressure pad. It seems to work adequately.

I was entertaining a Surefire Scout that I could mount on the side, but my buddy really watned the X400 and we put them on one purchase order. With the laser, that is not an option. :(

I love the EoTech. Note that this one has the buttons on the side, allowing me to not have to worry about leaving room to access them when I throw things in front of it. I will be shifting everything forward so that I can have room for my NV mount. I wouldn't mind a magnifier, but it is hardly necessary with such a short-barreled rifle. :)

How long is your barrel? Also, what kind of rear sight did you go with?
