I went to the Bronx armory on Fordham took the asvab again... scored high. I was originally with the marines but they had no Infantry job they ran out and I would have to wait a while new fiscal year which is October. So I switched my branch to the National Guard. 11B. Any Guards member in here?

Mike do you feel this helped you get into your LEO position?

I also did the Guard route. Undoubtedly, it helped me get in. However, it did so more through character development than anything else. I got two MOSes and then went the ROTC route through the last 2 years of college. I didn't get any VA points for it, but I am sure it was noted during interviews and such. That will not likely be the case these days, as you can count on some deployments with today's current events. :)
I also think it came in very useful during SOG selection (after already being on the job), as I was already familiar with the head-games and knew some of the shortcuts. FYI, while our academy is NOT very militaristic, SOG selection is. :)

Alright man thanks for the incite well I really hope this gives me those "brownie point" among the college credits and the bachelor degree I am pursuing right now in Criminal Justice. And being a member of the NYPD Auxiliary. I am trying be one of those completive candidates so there will be no issue on why I was not chosen for LEO position.

In answer to your question, Switch hit the nail on the head:
more through character development than anything else.
Now, if I had gone MP instead of FA, there may have been more benefits career wise. Not much of a call for being able to blow s*** up from several miles away in the civilian sector.

I know we never give MPs much extra credit. Too often, it is physical security. Even if you are doing a lot of CQB in the sandbox, anyone can carry a gun... we are looking for investigators that can carry a gun.
