An unusual scene unfolded Wednesday night at the Kalamazoo County Jail, a 15-year-old girl and her 18-year-old friend allegedly came in either high or drunk, and the 15-year-old is said to have started a fight with one of the sheriff's deputies.

Kalamazoo County Sheriff's deputies say they noticed right away that something was wrong on Wednesday night when the girl and her friend, both from Kalamazoo, entered the lobby at the Sheriff's Department. Both were allegedly high or drunk, but the 15 year old became unruly after being questioned by deputies.

Police say the girl became so upset, that she aggressively pushed a metal chair at one of them, hitting a deputy in the leg.

"The young lady didn't want to be questioned, wanted to leave," said Sheriff Richard Fuller. "But at this point, they're realizing they have someone underage, and intoxicated in some form, and they weren't going to let her walk out the door."

It was supposed to be a visit to the Kalamazoo County jail as part of a probation program, touring the jail to see what life is like behind bars. The 15 year old wasn't even supposed to be there, she was just tagging along with her friend, going as far as to sign in using a fake name.

"I'm sure he said, 'I'm going on a jail tour for my probation, do you want to go,'" said Sheriff Fuller. "Evidently the answer was yes."

Deputies later searched the car of the 18 year old, and found illegal prescription drugs inside.

"It's always sad to me when someone doesn't use the number one tool given to them, and that's their brain," said Sheriff Fuller. "They were not using their brain to think about this situation."

Both the 15 year old and the 18 year old are now facing charges. The 15 year old is facing a charge of assaulting a police officer, and the 18 year old is now facing a drug charge.

Hmm, I wonder if that's the first time a corrections officer was also the arresting officer?
