Police Officer Preparation & Law Enforcement Resource - Archive

Hello everyone,

I'm about to enter my final semester in college. Currently I'm a political science major with a minor in history. I've decided very late in the game that I don't like my major or my minor reallly. I wish I would have switched to CJ, but I'm done with all my classes for both major and minor, and am spending my last semester getting electives. My plan so far is go to Marince OCS after I graduate to pay off my student loan debt. I'm wanting to go to Graduate school and get a Masters. I'm leaning toward Public Administration at the moment, but I'd be open to anything I could take with my existing Undergraduate Degree to get a job in law enforcement. I don't know if I can get a job in law enforcement with a Masters in Public Administration or if I need to find a different masters degree program.

I guess what my question is, what options do I have, if any, to get into law enforcement. I've grown to hate Politics, and want to do something with my life besides just make money.

Since you didn't bother with much of an intro, I will assume that you did not try searching the site. Am I correct?

Had you have tried searching, you would find an ABUNDANCE of threads that cover what to study for LE, etc. Furthermore, in all of those threads you would find a common denominator: VERY FEW agencies/departments care what your degree is in.

Also, a masters may or may not make you more marketable for hire... more likely, that could be beneficial in later (upper level) promotions.
