Hello all. Let me first start off by introducing myself. My name is Matt and I am from Tacoma, Washington. I recently just finished up my master's degree in construction management and am having a heck of a time finding work in this poor economy. In the mean time, I have decided to pursue becoming a police officer. I was hoping you all could provide me with some advice on how to address part of my personal history questionnaire.
Just to give you all a little background before I get to my question. I am 25 years old and have had 18 jobs since I was 16. I was never fired from any of them. I left all of the jobs due to a better opportunity, etc. In the earlier days of my employment, during high school and the year or two after high school, I worked at a variety of retail and service jobs. Places like fast food restaurants and movie theaters. I definitely bounced around a lot in my earlier days.
My question is in regards to how detailed I need to be on my employment history. I can provide every job I've had, dates employed, reason for leaving, address, phone, supervisor for all of them. The problem on the application that I am running into, is they are requesting E-mail addresses for ALL current/previous employers. Some of my jobs, at retail stores and grocery stores when I was in high school, I never had E-mail addresses as contact information. Am I supposed to go and try to dig this up? I can provide E-mail addresses for my more recent jobs. (Up to five years back, which are my longer more stable jobs as well.)
Should I be stressing out over getting the E-mail addresses? It specifically states in my packet that it is considered "Incomplete". There is a sentence stating, "All information must be provided on the PHQ including addresses, phone numbers and E-mail addresses for all references, family members and current/previous employers", otherwise it is considered incomplete and is a disqualifier.
In my opinion, I think it is reasonable to not provide them on my earlier jobs. What do you all think? Any advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to everyone in advance. :)
PS Should I E-mail the hiring officer and ask this question or would that be annoying to them? I just don't want to have be disqualified over something silly like this.
