(Lincoln, NE)- A car-semi crash in northeast Nebraska has claimed the life of a Platte County Sheriff’s Deputy. 34-year-old Deputy Christopher Johnson of Columbus, Nebraska, was killed when his patrol car was struck by a semi at mm 149 on Highway 91 in Platte County.
The Nebraska State Patrol is investigating the crash which occurred around 11:14 a.m., Saturday, August 29, 2009. Deputy Johnson was responding to an injury accident and was eastbound on Highway 91 when his 2006 Chevy Impala Patrol car was struck by a 2000 Freightliner semi trailer truck. The semi was westbound on Highway 91 and was making a left hand turn at the Cornlea intersection when the two vehicles collided.
