Anyone know of any police jobs out there that allow you to work from home via computer?
For those who are extremely talented in online networking, I wonder if any jobs exist that would allow a person to put those skills to work for the police force.
Currently I run my own online business and make a decent living but I am curious if there are jobs I can do. Things I can think of are:
*Online investigation
*Research
*Database Entry
*Networking
*Online Advertising and Promotion
etc...
Anybody have any insight on this sort of thing? Thanks a bunch. ;)
Never heard of any such thing. ALL of the computer forensics people I know do their work at HQ.
They sometimes need access to evidence , case files etc which cannot be taken home.
I know of some deputies that tried it a few times but generally they got in trouble for it and were sent back on the road.

I tried the whole working from home thing, but my supervisor didn't care for it too much.
Why do you feel you need to work from home? I getting a mental picture of a morbidly obese person who cannot get out of bed and has a laptop on their bedside table. Unless that's the case, if you want to have a real job, you probably need to leave your house and go to work.

haha... No I work out of my house and sometimes I can't leave but I have a couple hours here and there to spare. Instead of doing laundry and dishes I could be earning money and helping the cause. My time is chopped up so I can't leave for long periods of time due to my home business.
OK I will cough it up. I run an online business buying and selling advertisements for organizations. I need to be online when they need me or a plan goes through. A lot of it is automated so it doesn't matter but I run deals that need my attention and manual placement.
But I could go hours at a time doing nothing and if I could get paid not by hour but for a job, for instance it might be cool. I am sure a job like that doesn't exist but saying something like "get this job done by next Friday and I will pay you this amount... "
Just wishful thinking I am sure.

You are basically talking about being a Sub-Contractor for a Government, then.
If you find one of those kind of jobs, see if there are two available & clue a brudda in, will you?:D
Ummm... are you sure you're looking for a "police" job? Maybe you had a typo and were asking for an IT job you can do from home. I think you'd have a hard time responding to 911 calls or doing traffic stops if you never left home. :D

That's the idea, my good man. ;)
Easy fellas. :D
Just asking. Sub-contracting to government or the CIA. Yeah that's it. Kinda like James Bond on the computer. bwaaahahaahahaha
Well thanks for the replies. Appreciate the responses.

Some of the joint task for people with NYPD don't have to report to the city everyday, but they still have to go somewhere. For example Joint Terrorist Task Force, but don't expect to get that right away.
