Let's see...

My favorite story just happened a few months ago.

An older lady was having trouble with her phones lines. She or the phone itself (LOL) called 911 and it was an open line. I could hear a lot of static, and hear someone saying HELLO, and dialing.

So I dispatch out my Deputy to the call. It took him around 15 minutes to get on scene. And the front door was apparently wide open, so he walks in. I can hear him in the background "Sheriff's Office, anyone home?" He walks through the house, and asks the female subject "did you call 911, we got a hang up call from here, everything ok?"

Her reply " Hold on let me pull up my britches"

Two seconds later she flushed the toliet, by that point I had the phone on hold, and keyed up advised my deputy to have the caller disconnect from the phone call :)

What about you all?

I'm not a dispatcher but I love hearing the dispatchers when they are buckled over laughing and hardly able to talk.

BTW, it's a big city department...large communications center...and they do a good job with the dispatching (except fire/rescue...its electronic paging and computer voice but the computers are down alot.)
