Guys I'm from NYC and have been looking into moving to Texas. So, could someone kind of tell me the process on how to get on the Austin PD or Travis County PD? From what I've read it's totally different than New York. Here you only need 60 credit hours, then you apply.
From everything I've read online it looks like it's totally different than Texas. So if anybody could give me some pointers it would be great.

Once you Liberate yourself from NYC, the first thing you will need is your own shootin' iron, and then adopt a no BS attitude and a nice twang in your speech... then they won't look at you so funny when you step off the bus.... :D
Good Luck.
Texas is beautiful. There are only a few places I'd rather be on Earth.

lol. I've already began to break myself from the NYC way of life.
I've been to Austin a few times and love it down there, that's why I wanna be an officer down there. ( I come from a long line of NYPD in my family) But I just hate NYC these days.
So could you give me some advice on how to get on down there? I've called a few recuters and have not got a call back. The info I'm finding online isn't that great.
thanks again

Have you tried going to the Austin recruiting website? You'll need 30 credit hours to apply
http://www.ci.austin.tx.us/police/recruiting/
and the Travis County website under Human Resourses.
