Police Officer Preparation & Law Enforcement Resource - Archive

The REAL POLICE FORUM is a leading community of police officers and law enforcement professionals. The forum includes police chat and restricted areas for police officers only. The ask-a-cop area allows you to ask questions to real police officers and only verified police are allowed to respond. REALPOLICE.com also features law enforcement jobs, news, training materials and expert articles.

That's right. I've thought about it, and decided I'm correct. While a supervisor section in the public forum has its merits, so does a verified one. Since we can't seem to get one, we'll just create it.

Verified Supervisor will now appear in the General section of verified. I will begin threads with "Supervisor - ". I urge others to do the same. That way one can search the General forum for "supervisor" and get a list of all threads, thereby 'creating' a verified Sup section. If the admin ever catches up, a real verified sec can be made and all our threads moved into it.

I hope you sup's out there will use this new idea. The anonymity of this site allows us to openly discuss issues we may not among those we work with. I would like to see policing continue to grow professionally, for the benefit of those we work with, those we supervise, and ourselves. Let's help each other out - like police.

I know its bad form to bump. But this is a good idea.

I really don't think we would have enough traffic to justify it. I am open to being convinced otherwise, but this was my concern back when CoC initially suggested it and with the mere fact that this has sat dormant since then, it seems like a well-founded concern. :)

Well, this looks like a supervisor section. I am a Chief of Police. I started in police work in 1985, I was promoted to Sgt. in 1991 and Chief in 1998. I would be happy to impart my wisdom of almost 26 years of work to anyone. I also would answer questions to and ask questions of my fellow supervisors.

I could also tell some of the young uns on here how to stay out of trouble.

Switch, am I allowed to ask O his first question or will I get tazed? It's a serious question :) Seriously.

Ok, I'm gonna go with my "better to ask for forgiveness" philosophy and ask O.

OK, O, Sir....I'm a big Steven Segal fan and when I found out about a year ago that he had been a real cop for so many years, his stock really went up. But in watching his show, he seems to have a little bit different approach down there in New Orleans. What kind of a super do you think he is in real life? In other words, he seems to use his same Zen approach he uses with martial arts and applies it to being a cop. What ya think?

This is a serious section, not for silly questions about actors.

But he's a real cop policing real people in New Orleans, isn't he?

Along with bodyguards and a camera crew. Kudos to him, but I have also heard he only works a few times a year. Look what they did to knuckle britches Chuck Norris here in Texas. They made him an honorary member as a Texas Ranger!Yuk, he has never been in LE.

Us real cops work alone. Single man units is how we like to roll down here.

Perfect. You answered my question. It's really just more Hollywood sh**. Which pi**es me off since I have real relatives that live in the Big Easy. If it's just Hollywood, I don't think they should lead us to believe it's real.

O, I'm from the public. I know about as much about police enforcement as you know about fighter pilots.

As good as he can be. I was out there yesterday to visit and watch some of the game with him. He likes to be visited. I'll return tomorrow to visit and run in their neighborhood. Lots of deer to see while running makes it a little more exciting.

Now I did not admit that the jets could out run me! :nonod:

Good to hear. I have to be more careful too. I was on my tennis team in college (just a small woman's college) and got burned outside so many times that I think it's going to catch up with me. They say you get melanoma from burns you got when you were younger.

Oh, shoot, I forgot this is a serious SUPER thread. Ok, back to serious SUPER stuff.

There are times when posts add nothing to the thread except to serve as vanity posts and this appears to be yet another occasion. The constant manic hijacking of threads has become excessive.
