Hello,

I wanted to know if the sig p226 9mm was a hand gun that I could use in California basic police academy? I have noticed that the requirements are no single action - semi-automatic or **** and lock style weapons allowed.

I just wanted to check since the sig p226 is single and double action. I was not aware that it was both until I looked at my receipt. I would have bought the glock 17 but they were not in stock at the time.

Thank you for your time

I would recommend that you check with the particular academy you plan on attending

A P226 should be fine. There were 5 people in my class using either a P226 or a P220.

What academy are you headed to?

The P226 is a good gun. My department issues it in DAK but we're able to upgrade on our own dime. I got me a Two-toned P226 in DA/SA.
