Hello everyone, I am looking to see how long the average hiring time is for a security officer. I just graduate for college with a degree in Criminal Justice and I am looking for a temporary job while I am waiting for my federal applications to be processed. So I am just seeing how long it would take to get a full time security job. Thanks

It depends on the company, some will hire you without your guard card, give you a low risk post while your paperwork is in process and it's usually one month until you go through all the required classes and get your permit.

Part of getting the guard permit however is the FBI live scan which you have to pay all your own fees for that.

Some companies will go through the complete process first and will not let you work until you have all that cleared out.

It usually takes one month just for the live scan check to clear and 40-50 days to get your guard card afterwards.

Arizona will not allow you to work as a security guard unless you have obtained your license. You may be allowed to train for the post, however, which means that another officer has to be training you for the position. It takes up to a month for the initial license to arrive.

You may be able to work in house security without a license. This would cover positions such as store loss prevention where you work directly for the company, not a contract agency such as Securitas or the Wackers.

It depends on where you live aswell, I know in PA you don't need anytype of license unless you're Armed security.
