So I've been trying to save up for an Xbox 360. Long story short, I've saved about $200.

The Xbox 360 Pro is $300, but I could get the arcade for $200. (Plus tax on both)

So my question is...do you think the arcade is worth it? I'm getting mixed answers from my friends about it. All I really want to do with it is play on live.

But...I heard through some of my friends that if you want to play live on the arcade, you need to buy the hard drive for it. Anyone know if this is true?

Any help would be appreciated.

The Arcade version only comes with a 256Mb memory unit.
When I bought my 360 I bought the pro that comes with 20Gb harddrive and I've used 10Gbs so far. The more games you play on it the more memory your going to need.

Thanks, pafindr.

I'm mainly thinking about Halo and COD.....do you think I could get away with 256Mb?

Your harddrive will save all of your previous games as well as all of your achievements and ranks if your playing games you mentioned. I would suggest you get the pro if you plan on playing alot. The arcade model is really for young kids who dont really play the games with alot of saved data.

You can go to the XBox site and see the differences for the consoles

If you have an HD t.v. the Arcade version won't cut it. And games like Halo 3 and COD look great in HD.

Whatever you do, make sure you have a hard drive. Especially with Halo and Call of Duty, there are map packs and other downloadable content you may want to purchase at some time in the future. In fact, one of the Halo 3 map packs are already free, so having a hard drive is a must.

Sorry Falcon but someone shouldn't buy a used Xbox. There are too many issues with them and I wouldn't buy one unless it came with a company warranty. My first one died 10 days before the warranty was up and the next one died 3 weeks after they sent it to me. The one I have now is about 3 months old with 9 months left on the warranty.
I would rather spend the extra money and know that if it dies within the year I'll get a new one with a new warranty.
As far as games, you can rent them at Gamefly then buy them for half the price (or less) of a brand new game.

Wow
They tried to charge me even though it was still under warranty.... Until I asked for a supervisor. :)
