Question for any Explorer Officers. How do you all deal with explorers that are not really interested in the program. I am an Officer for the Richmond VA Police Explorers Post 610, which is a relatively new post and a few of the members constantly are disruptive and disrespectful at meetings. Since we are such a new post and are trying to retain explorers for the next year it is hard really dicipline them. Any ideas of how I can get more order and professionalism into this new program? Any ideas for the meetings that would get the explorers more involved and more excited to participate in such a program. Our advisors are new as well, so any ideas for meetings and senarios would be a great help.

This question has been answered many times on many several different occasions. Use the search tab and you will more than likely find your answer plus other information you can carry over to your explorer post.

Thanks MPD 145. How does your post specifically deal with explorers who continually show no interest. Do you give your post members like a warning first and then do they go before the advisors to see if the should remain involved in the post? Just trying to get some feedback from other Explorer Officers. Thanks man.

As far as disipline is concerned, I ususally talk to the explorer one on one to see if i can fix the problem without having to go to other supervisors. If that does not work and the actions continue, I give a written warning which could then lead to the explorer being placed on a probationary period. In our post the advisor has the final word. So as a supervisor, see if you can do a simple fix.

Alright, that works. Really appreciate the feedback. My advisor and my Explorer Sgts are really trying to get this new program up and running and have it become a very professional program.
