Hey guys,

Just wondering if California has any laws against using hollow point ammunition as a security guard or if you can just use the regular wal mart ammo?
Also, (and I think I know the answer to this but I wanted to make sure) as a security guard you can only use regular 10rd civilian magazine and not 12 or 13 rd, correct? I think the answer would be 10 rd only because you're still a private citizen as a guard. Thanks.

I'm not an expert on Ca law, but in NY we still have a 10 rd magazine restriction, unless LE/Government. Security is not LE/government, so you would be limited.

As for hollow point ammo, why not try to buy it, and see? Doing a quick search, I couldn't find anything about the legality, maybe you could do a more thorough search on your own. It did take me only 2 minutes to find out the legality of 10 rd vs larger rd magazines.

Va has no magazine limits but your duty ammo has to be hollow points.

The OP realy needs to check the law on this one. He may be able to purchase, but not carry. An example of this would be New Jersey. Hollowpoints are perfectly legal to own, target shoot and hunt with in NJ, you just can't carry them for self defense....unless you are active or retired Law Enforcement.

The OP hasn't logged on for almost three years now, since about a month after he posted this question.

Time to put this one to bed...
