Hi,
Im a British police officer with Essex police and I'm traveling out to Houston,Texas for a week in October. I have tried to arrange a number of visits to see different police departments and specialist sections while I'm away, but have only had a reply from one force. If you can assist me in any way I would appriciate your help.

Spooks-

Welcome to the Forum!

I'm certain that we'll have some members on here shortly from Texas who would be thrilled to help you out.

If you like the forum, and want to stay, send a PM to a mod and see about getting yourself Verified as a Law Enforcement Officer. The restricted areas have some good info in them.

One more thing... It's generally considered rude to post the same question in more than one area. I promise that you'll get plenty of aid from one posting alone.

Hope that helps!

Citicop.

hello, welcome to RP. I think someone here will be able to help. I don't know when you're leaving for the States. Give it a little while, and just to let you know; posting the question in one place is enough, no need to post the same questions again. Hope your stay in States is full of enjoyment. At least your hard earned quid will go a long way here :D

Thanks.
I fly out on the 14th October for a week of fun and I'm really looking foward to it. It the second time I have visited the states, the first time was to New York and as a police officer the NYPD really looked after us.

Thats really awesome! what departments have you contacted near houston?

And have you looked into some of the departments up in North Texas? I know many departments up here are adverstising recruitment.

I sent emails to the Harris County sheriffs office, Houston police dept and Galveston police dept. The only department that contacted me back was Galveston PD who are sorting something out for me.
I was intrested in visiting the forces and seing there SWAT/ERT teams and seing their facilities.
With my force I'm a response officer and am also a member of the MAT team and MOE trained aswell as being part of the CBRN team.

Are you sure that Galveston will have the time to show an european LEO their dept? I think after the hurrican they have big problems in their city.

I was aware of the problems after the hurrican and when I spoke to them I said I didnt want to put them out. They said they would sort something out, but when I get to Houston I will give them a call on the day I was going to visit and check the state of play. If its going to cause them more problems I will call it off rather than get in their way.

Just for clarification

MAT = mutual aid trained (riot trained)
MOE = method of entry (boshing in front doors)
CBRN = chemical, biological, radioactive and nuclear (wearing green suits with respirators going one way whilst everyone else is running the other way, or is dead)
