I know there is a forum already started comparing a glock and a springfield xd. My question is a little more specific than that thread and I would like to get some opinions from some gun gurus.

I am about to purchase a new firearm for concealed carry. I can't make up my mind between the Springfield XD .40 or the Glock 27 or 23.

I like the Springfield because it has all the features of a 1911. The only downfall is it is more bulkier and heavier than the glock. I enjoy holding both guns. The Glock is lighter and more compact than the Springfield. Also, if I go with the Glock, should I get the 27 sub-compact or the 23 Midsize/Compact. I have shot both and they each feel amazing. I just want to be sure I have made the right decision. I know its all to their own, but any advice and or opionions would be greatly appreciated.

if you go Glock, the 27 is just as bulky as the 23, even though it's smaller. I'd stick with the 23, at least you get a longer barrel and more rounds. imo.

Have you thought about an S&W M&P40 compact? The M&P line truly is a dream to shoot.

I picked one up the other day and loved it. I did this after I posted this thread. It felt amazing in my hand. I have been looking at the Kel Tec p-11 9mm also, just because it is so lightweight and easy to conceal.

I purchased a G23 last year for concealed carry. I really like the gun, holds plenty off rounds, nice to shoot, very easy to clean.

I agree on the choice of a GLOCK 23. I've had mine almost 3 years and I love it. Easy to shoot, easy to maintain, lots of rounds. No complaints!

Pick the gun you like best. There is no other answer. Everyone has an opinion, and if I were forced to give you one I'd tell you I prefer the XD. However I won't be shooting this gun, you will.

My only other thought is this; if you like the XD because it has all of the features of the 1911, then get a 1911.
