So David is in the hospital with a mysterious "infection" in his leg and he is being tight lipped about it. So what do you think is wrong with him?
I'm going for the flesh eating virus.
Or the herp from one of those nasty lot lizards.

Another tragic case of schistosomiasis... contracted from swimming in water infested with snails.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schistosomiasis
...Although it has a low mortality rate, bilharzia is a chronic illness that will damage internal organs mainly the bowel, bladder and stomach, making all muscles floppy and open to twisting or wasting away

Maybe that ring of fire moved :p

Are they talking about putting your leg in a hyperbaric chamber?
I had a friend with diabetes and a foot infection and that worked better than anything else they did.
I already guessed MRSA in his original thread. I may change it to hemmorhagic Rocky Mountain spotted botulism.

I can't even imagine being in your shoes right now, butter. I hope you get better soon.
On a side note, some years ago, my dad developed a nasty case of a bacterial infection right on his shoulder. I won't go into gory details, but with old fashioned anti-bacterial soap, antibodies from the doctor, a brand new mattress and sheets and pillows, and a kick in his rear from his children, he recovered in a week.
Your case reminded me of what happened to him. But since you have to be in the hospital, yours sound far worse. :(
Recover quickly.
Ngcsu.
Get better soon.
Stay strong.

yeah I know this is old, but I just looked this whole infection thing up online, and boy........................It was a flip of the coin, if it had developed quicker and got deeper to the muscle tissue; it very well could have been the flesh eating type of cellulitis (necrotizing fasciitis). I really was lucky with this.
So, do you and a football have anything in common yet ?? :)

The pig skin will remain on my leg until at least the 7th when I go and have the burn/wound center people look at my leg again. It's been wrapped ever since they put the skin on. Amazingly enough even the top layer of my skin off of my shin and part of my calf, it didn't hurt like you'd think it would. However since I got home and this might be due to a lack of 'exercise' in the leg but, my calf hurts like I have a charlie horse, but without the muscle tightening up. They precribed me some pain pills for it, but throughout the whole ordeal I never really needed them until I got home. Sure they got some narcotics in me directly after the surgeries but, I really didn't feel pain in the leg until now.

Hey Butters... These infections can be nasty things... and they can so easily kill you... I am happy to hear you are out of the hospital. Must be good to be home... Hope you heal up quickly!

yeah, the wound/burn clinic said it healed up pretty well, don't even have to go back unless something acts up. My shin is shiny because I pulled off a lot of the dead/dry skin. Smooth skin as a newborn, like how the skin grows in after a bad sunburn/road rash. The rest of the 'stuff' will eventually get shaken/washed off, but they said it would take some time. I tried to scrub the darkened calf area, but it started to bruise, and seep a little blood. I just hope since I can't scrape that off yet, the discoloration isn't permanent. Assuming I don't screw anything up, I'll be back in the saddle first week or so of Nov.

The doctors did an impressive job on you...really.
If you believe in vitamins, take vit. E, Butter, it will help in the renewal of new skin cells, and you will be camera ready :)
