If you are one of the unfortunate ones who are in the path of Hurricane Ike, hunker down, and stay safe. We were just notified that effective 0600 on Friday, we are on duty until this thing is over. It'll be a nice payday, but personally I'd rather be with my family.
Be careful out there...........

had to do it during Hurricane Dolly. Not much fun sleeping on the floor with no A/C and then some jackass stole my raincoat..luckily the captain had an extra one. so much for the brotherhood.

We went to A/B shifts yesterday. According to the AWACS pages Galveston is now a mandatory evac. All shelters here were activated this morning. No massive influx of refugees yet though. Maybe by suppertime.
We're only supposed to get 50-60mph winds and about 8" of rain, but we won't be going home until the shelters close.
I'm just sitting in the office at the moment. I have my stock of survival rations, canned ravioli, ramen and Dr Pepper. :p

Good luck to all of you. I just watched the morning news and noticed that Galveston is flooded and until now one is killed.
Stay all safe out there and don't be heroes for people who had the chance to go away in front of Ike.

Things are getting interesting in the shelters it seems, the hoodrats have shown up with their pittbulls and Baker radio has a foot pursuit of some naked guy. ;)
They are also running folks for sex offender status as they show up. Getting a few hits on those.
Fortunately we only have motels/hotels in our city and are not hosting any shelters! The motels are packed though, and hopefully we dont have too many issues in the city this weekend... I'm OFF but I still live in the city.

Things are really starting now, they are getting bored I guess. Some guy just showed up at the FEMA site stating that he's looking for his ex's shelter so he can kill her and her family.
We were just told that the shelters will be online until Houston gets electricity back/:rolleyes:
Anyone hearing or seeing any damage reports?
Especially from more isolated places like Sabine?
