I have an interview with the WCSD tomarrow and i was wondering if anyone has taken the oral board, if so do you remember what kind of questions were asked during the oral board?

My dad worked there about 45 years ago. I can ask him about the interview although my suspicion is that most of the questions probably have changed. :D

Just remember the question, what is the one thing a deputy must posses/wear to issue a citation in the state of Michigan?

Piggy that would be great. A buddy of mine from the academy works for them and he said they ask questions such as tell me about a time you had to make an Ethical decision, or tell me about a time that you used team work, stuff like that. But id like to know some things that are a little more specific.

No, I think a hat would be the correct answer! :D Of course we're Federal and no one cares if we have hats on! :)

Yeah, they ask a lot of thinking questions. When I originally interviewed for 911, they had lots of questions that were along them lines. Name a time you failed, what did you do to overcome it. They also asked some technical questions but I really don't remember

Good luck. WCSD is a good agency from what it looks like. I understand Sheriff Deputy, but would that mean you'd be hitting the road? Or in the jails?

With WCSD you apply for a certain position ither 911, corrections or court officer. So Deputy Sheriff you go straight to the road. As with Wayne County you have to start in the jails for 6 months i believe then you can be a road officer.

Ya, a lot of Sheriff's departments require jail time before patrol, if you can get with them as a street deputy straight off that'd be cool. Good luck with the process, just remember to be paitent and don't give up. If you don't make it just keep re-applying. Most of the cops you talk to will tell you that they applied several times or to several agencies before getting hired and the worse thing you can do is get rejected then get depressed about it and give up. Just give it your all then do it all over again if need be.

just curious, what do they do with the answers to your questions after the interview and after they are reviewed? Do they go into a file or are they just thrown away?

They may ask you in the interview if you asked someone about the oral board questions. If you tell them yes, your done. If you lie to them , your done. The best thing to do is go in the oral boards and answer the questions to the best of your ability.:D

Don't buy the 6 months and you go to the road bit. The correct terminology would be, 6 months and you are ELIGIBLE to go to the road. Not as easy as it sounds. I know from experience. Whatever you do, do NOT downplay the Corrections guys/gals or think any less of them. Corrections is/was the best training I ever had. College...Academy...anything...PERIOD.
