From what I've heard and read, they don't expect him to make it much longer. So sad, and young. Prayers to him and his family and hopefully a miracle comes through and he makes it...

SAGINAW, Mich. -- Fun at a motorcycle rally in Midland quickly turned to fright when ambulances and rescue personal arrived late Saturday evening.

Saginaw Township police officer Michael Cohee is clinging to life support after falling from a golf cart in which he was a passenger.

Cohee, 37, and thousands of others were at Benny’s Bike Rally, an annual fundraiser at the Midland County Fairgrounds.

Police said the driver of the golf cart made a sharp turn, tossing Cohee to the concrete. The nine-year veteran landed directly on his head.

Saginaw Township police chief Donald F. Pussehl Jr.said Cohee is one of the best officers on his force.

"One night we had a report that someone was stealing from some vehicles over on State Street,” Pussehl said. “It's pouring rain out, but detective Cohee was out in the woods doing surveillance with no umbrella, no rain gear.

"That shows the dedication detective Cohee has for his job.”

Medical staff at MidMichigan Medical Center is waiting for Cohee’s friend to arrive from Arizona before possibly removing him from the life support machine.

“It's like a family and it would be a loss like a brother to many of us at the police department,” Pussehl said.

In 2003, Cohee received awards after surviving a gunshot wound during a shoot-out at a Saginaw drug house raid.
