Have a Stainless Walther .380 for sale. 50 rounds shot, it was my dad's gun. Comes with two mags, one with extention. PM only. No case or manual. Must be verified.

not inappropriate at all. of course you know about state/fed laws on sales of weapons. Just follow them and be happy right? Why only verified s though?

Well, I might have been interested in it but I'm not a cop. I'm not sure why you won't sell to anyone else or why you even posted it on this side of the board when only verifieds could have read it on the other side. Being verified won't change the required actions of selling it one bit or make it any more legal especially if it's shipped interstate.
You would have to do the transfer through a FFL holder so you are protected from an improper buyer.
I dont blame the guy for wanting to sell only to LEOs.
I wish I had extra cash to buy it.

Won't apply to me since I have a newer one anyway, but is it one of the original German made ones, or the newer American made under Walther license. (mine was made by S&W :D)

If it is stainless steel, it is the newer version. It could be a Smith & Wesson or if made here earlier an Interarms.

And why is that? Are we non-LEO types not skilled enough to own firearms or are we just more likely to commit a crime with it? Both excuses are crap.

I would have loved to buy it but 1) I am not 21 and 2) I am not verified! I don't think it is so much they are afraid to sell it to us "non-verified's" as I think it is the security of selling something to another police officer is higher then selling it to someone who they do not know what they do for a profession or intend to do with the weapon. Just my .02.

You have absolutly no idea what you are talking about. All sales would have to go through an FFL.

I've never bought a firearm in a private sale before. If I made face to face contact with a person and bought a firearm, does it still have to be fee'd thru a firearms dealer? I thought that only applied via mail order?
ETA, I'm not interested in the firearm, just the info...sorry Taxx... :o

my understanding, for a pistol. If that pistol crosses state lines, the feds say the deal has to go through a ffl. rifles, not so much.

It's his gun, he can sell it to whomever he pleases. I've done the same thing with antique rifles. Lots of shadetree gunsmiths out there just salivating at the thought of taking a angle grinder to a 1903 Springfield. ( I have one of those awaiting restoration right now. (The buttmunch should have been dismembered with an angle grinder himself)
I have a basketload of police-marked handguns, mostly Smith revolvers. If I kick off tomorrow the wife knows full well they are only to be sold to other police officers.;)

I know it has to go through a FFL, Norm. I am just saying, if I was the seller I would rather have my weapon that I was selling go to another LEO but that is my opinion (and I know its not that heavily weighted because I just joined), it is really his choice in the end, right?

In VA face to face sales can be made without a FFL involved. Some states don't allow it though.

That I can understand. None of my Garands have ever been sold to the guy who hacksawed the sights off his SKS to put a spotlight on it. Well, I've never actually saw someone do that but you know the type.:p

I've bought many handguns and long guns in personal sales with no FFL involved.

Sure face to face. I meant if the gun had to be shipped. Sorry for the confusion.

* it also counts if you buy a pistol face to face, then drive back to a different state, that also requires an ffl by the feds*

Not what you told BigFan5o.
Just saying interstate transfers would require an FFL but some face to face, in-state wouldn't. You clearly stated "All sales would have to go through an FFL".

You need to chill out bro. I've sold probably a dozen firearms in my short lifespan and none of them have been to LEO's.

I apologize TX. I didn't mean for it to sound like it did. I haven't forgot that you're a strong 2nd supporter judging by your posts here.

Not a problem. I simply meant I don't blame him, with the crucifixion that cops go through when something as simple as selling property can get them.
Okay, okay. The .380 is stainless steel. I am assuming that it is made by Smith & Wesson (under Walther license) since it has their markings on it. I don't know much about the pistol and it took me about an hour to figure out how to break it down.
Mxwelch, don't get your shorts in a knot. I didn't purposely put this thread in a "all-to-view" category only to tempt non-verifieds with something to make it out to be forbidden fruit. I do not have that type of contempt nor that much forthought, but appreciate the deviance you afforded me.:p
Had you or other non-verifieds really wanted to inquire about the weapon a PM could have been sent and I would have weighed my options. The reason I posted "verifieds only" is for two reasons. 1) It's not my pistol and my dad said he would like to see it go to a cop or other responsible gun owner. 2) RP has taken alot of the guess work out when it comes to who is real and who is phony.
Now, I know what your responses will be; "Cops aren't always responsible gun owners." or "I'm not a cop and I'm a responsible gun owner." My response: True and probably true. Especially, since an officer in my department recently had their weapon stolen from their vehicle..EEEEEEEK!
Again, a pm could be sent and based on your history with RP and the people that know you we could work out a deal.
As far as the FFL goes, it will be required (let's do it right) if it crosses state lines. I guess that's how possession of stolen weapons can be charged federally. I have a dealer that is willing to work with me and...whoever the purchaser is.

My shorts are strait.:D And I have never nor will I ever paint those in LE as irresponsible gun owners because I simply don't believe it. Sure there are always individuals but I believe they are the very few. I understand your reasons and offer my apologies as I did to TX.
