I have been debating applying to the RCMP for a while now. Even though the media has been attacking them lately I still think they are a very reputable force.

The obvious con to the RCMP is that you can end up any where but it seems in recent years they have been more accomodating.

Does anyone have any input on what it is like working for the RCMP?

The RCMP have had a special place in my heart after I saw so many of them at a funeral for Alaska State Trooper Hans Roelle.

But they do march funny. ;)

Several of my friends are either recently accepted or in the process with the RCMP. From what I have heard, directly from them, the RCMP is really hurting for members all across Canada, but especially in the West Coast. So they have been told that being on the West Coast (which I believe you are) you're almost guaranteed to be placed there. I know my friends who were accepted by the RCMP were assigned to their home municipality (Surrey).

Best thing to do is to speak to a recruiter.

Moving out west wouldn't be that bad - I've been there several times, but getting stuck in the middle of no where may not be fun.

Can anyone shed some light on what kind of questions are asked during the lie detector test?
