Anyone been on one? I just got a call from my Cadet Sergeant and he said an officer wanted a couple cadets to go on one this thursday from 2000-0500. I think we're just logging evidence, but it's still an awesome experience.
Anyone have any experience so I can have an idea of what to expect? Fun? Boring? Thoughts in general?

Good for experience.
Boring if you want any excitement. All you do is write items down, and collect certain items. Not like you see on TV I'm sure you already know that though

I was on a ride along and helped serve an arrest warrant for a kid I had a class with that had always been a punk after finding out I was "with" the police. The officer I was riding with and another officer went to the front and another officer and I went to the back of the house.
Then we carted him off to JDC (juvy). Violating probation for drugs by using more drugs.
Never a search warrant. 9 hours? Yikes.

Ya the most excitment I'm expecting is the first 2-3 minutes, after that I've resigned my self to the fact that I'll just be writing down the locations of evidence as the officers bring it out.
Should help for Nationals though, I hope.

Kinda fun, kinda awkward I would imagine. How has your contact with the kid been since the arrest?

Well they have a charter school for bad kids when they are expelled so I'm fairly sure he would have been expelled and sent there.

I've been on one. It went by pretty quick though. They go in the house, guy runs out the back, gets caught. House is searched, nothing is found.
Have fun logging evidence till 5A.M. :D. Just kidding....it'll be a good experience.

Gotcha. I guess that made things easier for everyone involved then.

Wow....did you also get to break down the door and 'scream at the bad guys'?! Good Golly Gummydrops, I'm so jealous.
...and at the end of all this, did the 20th Century Fox logo appear? Because I'm pretty sure you're pulling all this BS off of some episode of COPS.

Dude, your gonna get my thread locked!:( Judging by your previous posts you have flare for the dramatic, or should I say exaggerated.
And for those who are curious, the warrant was cancelled 3 hours prior to execution. Apparently "things changed." O well, maybe there will be another.
It's a sad day...IBTL on my own thread
I think we're just logging
Just logging evidence? Logging of evidence on a search warrant is one of the most important and scrutinized tasks that transpires after entry is made. It establishes chain of custody.
I'm not an "explorer hater", but having a teenager on a search warrant doesn't seem very prudent. Everyone on a search warrant, especially personnel involved in evidence handling/collection will likely be required to testify in court. How is that gonna look? Sorry our witness can't get here, he's at a pep rally.

I do realize it is important, but also rather boring. That is what the "just" was in refernece to. As in we're not running in the house with officers, searching BGs, transporting, etc. Sorry if I created some confusion. Excellent point nonetheless.
And I gotta give you props for the pep rally thing, it was pretty funny, but the 2 of us that were doing it are no longer in HS. I'm almost 21, and the other cadet is 21, so we're not completely retarded ;):p
For the record, as a 19 year old Explorer I was in on a search warrant of a house. I had the great pleasure of going through gay porn magazines looking for sections/words that had been cut out.
His sister was hot, though.
