Thats right, he's running for Governor...
God help our state if he gets in...
FLINT, Mich. -- Don Williamson has been in charge of the city of Flint for years, but now the mayor has his eyes on a new challenge.
During a news conference Thursday afternoon Williamson said he will run for governor.
Lt. Gov. John Cherry and Genesee County treasurer Daniel Kildee have also been rumored to be taking a stab at the open position in 2010.
Williamson, 73, said he would run as a Democrat.
Just six months ago, Williamson was re-elected Flint mayor when he defeated challenger Dayne Walling with 51 percent of the vote.
If elected, Williamson would be the first governor from Flint since 1865's Henry Crapo.
Gov. Jennifer Granholm will not be able to seek re-election in 2010 because of term limits.
