Anyone use the new fully aluminum ASP handcuffs (link below for ref)? I have a pair of the "older" hinge two-tone (with steel "blade"). I'm just wondering your opinions on the strength of it.

Thanks.

I like ASP Handcuffs. I have these ones http://www.copsplus.com/prodnum3066.php and really haven't had a problem with them (Other then fitting in a cuff case but I have a double case)

A guy I used to work with picked these up and never really had any problems from what I remember. From what I remember they are really light compared to what I have.

On the strength, they don't feel all that durable, going off the weight. But he swore by them all the time so yeah.

I wouldn't be surprised if Sheriff Arpaio ordered those in bulk for use in his jail facilities.

A little hijack, but I'm not a fan of those plastic clad ones. We used them during a resistance scenario and the single bar was able to twist to the point where we thought the guy was handcuffed. The single just slid to the outside of the double.

I had a friend who actually had this happen in real life. He threw the cuff away at the jail after the guy was finally in lock up. For me personally I'll stick with my S&W all steel.

I have the new ASP cuffs. I think they're great! They are signifigantly lighter than the original ASP cuffs.

I wonder if ASP is going to come out with a set of all Aluminum or all Steel Hinged cuffs.

That would be great. Does anyone know if they are?

that's the same problem we had with them...the chief liked them because they're new and "advanced," but they just didn't stand the "will that crap work in the street" tests...

A lot of officers out my way carry the asp chained handcuffs, including me. I like them for the fact that they have key holes on both sides and not only that but they are more difficult to get a bobby pin into than my two pairs of S&W cuffs. The "plastic" coating makes it a little bit more difficult to get them in.

I have noticed that the single strand will go beside the double instead of between. I haven't had a problem during field use but noticed this after taking them out of the package.

I have an ASP bianchi accumold cuff case and they don't fit down in there like I want them to but it's the best I can find for now.

I have a double cuff case on the other side with two pairs of S&W in there as well.
