Hey everyone!!! Im new around here, i just got my Non-C License, am working somewhere im really bored at, but went to work there to get my foot in the door, and to have the resources to get my License. I really want to become Commisioned, but have no idea where to start...I am prior military, and live in TX...any help of where to get started would be greatly appreciated. My place of employment does not offer the training. ;)

In what part of Texas are you?

To be commissioned you have to attend and pass a 30 hour commission school. You will receive a certificate of completion, and that is mailed to the state with a commission application and the required fee.

Only a licensed company can commission you, you cannot be commissioned unless a company sends in the forms/fees and requests to commission you under their license.

Commissioned as in becoming a "Special Police Officer," or something similar?

No, commissioned to carry a handgun on duty as a Security Officer under chapter 1702 of the Texas Occupations Code.

Texas does not really have "special police officers", although, I have met some who think they are. ;):D

I live in San Antonio, and really don't want to ask around at work about this...because I don't want to lead on that im looking for other opportunities. What I really need to know is what facilities offer the training...That's real cute Special Police Officer :eek: I was allowed to carry an M-16 around for 8 years in the Army...go figure????;) You guys are funny! But either way if anyone can lead me in the right direction let me know. Thanx. Geez I was to busy laughing about the special Police Officer thing that I now just saw what you said about having to go work for a company who will have to help me through the process.

Since you are in SA you could look in the Yellow Pages and Google Security Training and Security Guard Services. You are sure to find a school there.

To see a list of schools in SA click on the link and in the "city" search box type San Antonio and then search;

What did you do in the military? If you had relevant experience Allied Barton has government accounts where they like to hire former military.

Thanx for the info, I will definitly check it out. In the military I worked in the medical field...so really no relevancy there. But having a military background did get me the job I have now because I really had no experience in this field coming in..that's why I took the job to gain some experience..you gotta start somewhere.
