Critical Intervention Services, Inc - Tampa, Florida

I recently purchased a book co-authored by the owner of this company, "The Prevention Agency." I'm hoping for it to be a good read. This company seems pretty intriguing aswell.
Any of you Florida-area members ever heard of this company? I'd be rather interested to hear the opinions of Verifieds and those who have specialized experience in the protection industry.
They seem to ge quite squared away for the private sector. They offer an anti-terrorist program, K-9 unit, executive protection, a rather large patrol program, and hazardous materials unit. Even as an LEO, if I wasn't paying attention to detail, I think that I would easily confuse this company for some type of uniformed police.
I'm rather impressed by their "Anti-Terrorism Officers" program. These guys provide seemingly exceptional services to Tampa Electric (TECO). All their ATO's are also certified as HazMat Techs. Their website has several videos related to their company and is overall an interesting view. Their website also states that they've done some anti-terrorism training with agencies such as the U.S. Capitol Police.

Just took a quick peek, I'm already impressed with what I saw. They have very high standards in who they hire, which is good, however the payscale doesn't seem all that great unless you go for the ATO position. Couldn't find any sites they'd be contracted to, would be nice to know, but with OPSEC and all they may not be able to tell. Still, seems like a good one:D

TECO - Tampa Electric is their main AT client. It's on their site so it's no secret.

My bad, missed that, wasn't able to browse it long.
Some of them are good, some of them are squirrels who can't get hired in LE or are LE rejects. There are people who fail out of the FTO programs at police departments who work for them in addition to those who put themselves through the academy but can't get a job after graduation. A guy I went to the academy with worked for them for at least a couple years before I lost touch with him. I don't know if he ever got hired in LE or not. He was actually pretty squared away but just didn't have the college or military experience that departments around here want.
A guy I work with arrested one of these guys for possession of dope a couple years back. He was carrying around his little CIS badge with him and actually tried to badge his way out of jail.
As with any security company, you're going to have the good and the bad. Their security guards work in a lot of the problem apartment complexes and are pretty well received as a whole, both by us and the residents in the communities. They are better than most security companies out there. Although I've had some, I've had less negative contacts with their people than most other security guards. The only problem is that because they dress like SWAT team members and drive around in Crown Vics and Chargers, they tend to attract the wannabees and the cant-bees. Like most security companies, their pay is too low to really retain the quality people who can get a job in LE.
I've never had any encounters with those who work at TECO properties, only the regular guards working at apartment complexes.
We had a few near my little burg in Florida who would attempt to scare the speeding locals by tailgating them. Their cars had the light bars on the roof and looked a lot like a police car. They also had the irritating habit of stopping at traffic stops looking to help us.
They did a good job, when they did their jobs, but I did not like the fact that they tried to assist when their assistance was neither wanted or requested.

I used to work for this company but moved on because things just wouldn't change. No one took the job seriously and the people in the ranks are not experienced enough to deal with a lot of the situations that happen. They have witheld the updated company manual from employees, detained people against their will, repeatedly endanger their own officers by instructing them on techniques that can only be described as ancient, and as far as cleaning up the community the credit goes to the local police. The only thing this company does is contact the police which most residents are affraid to do. People are intrigued by the uniform, the fancy terms, and the nice videos but in reality they only care about what's on paper and keeping their buisness. They would rather put on a dog and pony show for one property manager than actually do work that could save lives. I've already filed complaints with various departments about them for these issues. I'm just waiting to see what happens from here. My advice would be to look into another local security company. They may not have the flair but they most likely have better work morals.

Oooh where do I start? I am also a former employee of this traveling carnival, This "agency" as they like to call themselves is nothing more than a fancy security company that has this crazy idea that they are a private law enforcement agency. This place encourages their people to violate individuals civil rights by detaining them and stating they are state officers. They haven't figured out yet that just because the state of Florida issues them a security license that doesn't make them a state officer. Their "standards" for hiring people use to be quite high but since most people they hire have real aspirations in life they don't stay long. Now they will hire anybody that walks in the door. The people that do stay and become lifers usually get fancy undeserved title such as Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, or Major that they insist on throwing around like it means something. On a good note if your looking for real experience in life playing politics and back stabbing this place is where you need to be.
