The XREP is a TASER contained in a shotgun shell, and is self powered. They had live demos of it and I gotta have some of those!

I saw that as well, I thought it was pretty cool, but I just don't know how much it will catch on in LE. I can see the uses, but you would have to load them, so they wouldn't be to useful unless for a stand-off with someone when you have time to load the shells in the gun.

There are all kinds of less-lethal shells in use now. You can carry the XREP in a side saddle and load thru the chamber.

It would be a dedicated weapon. I cannot see the lawyers allowing you to mix lethal/less lethal loads in the same shotgun.
Not a problem, we already have dedicated beanbag guns with orange stocks, just change policy to make them Taser launchers. :D
But honestly, at $100 a zap don't see them becoming widely issued. :eek:

Some departments DO allow non-dedicated less-lethal weapons to be used for deploying less-lethal munitions. These are usually smaller, less funded departments, where having extra shotguns is not feasible. Of course, this is not the recommended technique, but it is done.
Most deployments of bean-bag rounds are done with dedicated weapons. It would not be any issue at all having a satchel containing beanbag rounds, chemical rounds, and taser rounds... choosing what you need for the given event.
(I have to say, Celicaguy, that it is humorous to see you wondering if it will catch on in LE because of the need to load them, specifically. LE has been doing it with bean-bag rounds (impact weapons) for years)

Well I should have stated in smaller departments. Like the my explorer department, they do not have bean bag rounds, they have the taser. That is what I should have said switch.

LOL
Sorry. I am not trying to come off as an a$$. It just comes across as a bit silly, making sweeping statements like you know what you are talking about... basing these statements on little-to-no experience (admittedly an explorer in a small department).
at $100 a zap....
$100 a zap??!! :eek::eek::eek:
Are they reusable and rechargeable???

Nope... single-time use. The thing is, look at all they have to squeeze into that shell. They are amazing.
