There are always a lot of questions in this forum, so lets get an input thread going. There's always a part/workout that is your favorite, or "least hated" part.

What's your favorite area to work out? Biceps, triceps, chest, etc..

Also, what's your favorite workout?

For me, it's triceps, but my favorite workout is the individual barbell chest press (incline and 0 degree).

Hmmm... I really love my flat bench... but that is boring, wouldn't yoiu say?

...outside of that, I LOVE doing pull-ups. I was doing them with dumbells hooked between my ankles. I would do as many as I could, drop the weight, and continue to failure. I do 3 sets with wide-grip, palms out and then 3 sets with neutral grip.

When I got to the heavier weights, it started hurting the elbows. Now days, I use a 15lb medicine ball, pinned between my knees. I raise my knees out in front of me at a 90 degree angle and then do as many pullups as possible, drop the ball and then go to muscle failure with my knees still held at 90 degrees. I still do the 6 sets, as before.

That starts my back day. :)

My favorite day is definitely back/ bi day. Not so much for the bis though, I actually don't really like doing them. But I LOOOVE one-end barbell rows. It's my core lift on back days, depending on where I'm at in my program. Not too many people do, but I swear by it.

Alternately, when one-end barbell row is not on the schedule, I do what I call a "back complex." It consists of doing barbell row, then without skipping a beat, romanian deads, then shrugs. All with the same bar, never changing grip. Each excercise is 5 reps (15 reps per set) for 5 sets. It works all the muscles in the back without over working any of them.

Also up there is lat-pulldowns. I got a killer lat spread ;)

I completely LOVE pullups.

Most hated... Hard to say, I really enjoy working out.

Some of my favs: Pushups (cranking out as many as I can in a minute as a warmup to my chest workout), bench press, stiff legged dead lift, hanging leg lefts (for the abs).

Least favs: running alone, tricep workout (cause mine are weak), pullups (again, cause I suck at them)

Running , it is the only excercise that I have stuck with and that has been since 1978 :)

Bikram Yoga. A room heated to approx 105 degrees, a series of 26 poses that work everything. After 90 minutes I'm feeling fluid, bendy, rejuvenated, sweaty, and I've burned 700 calories or so. And I get to wear little yoga shorts. :D

Oh, sorry - was this a boy thread? My bad...didn't mean to interupt you badasses with my little mental picture ;)

I believe Darin's workout consists of the aerobics of trying to control the mullet on a windy day :)

That HAS to be some serious calorie burning !

Call me a glutton for punishment, but I love my workouts. I love challenging myself physically and I am addicted to the way I feel after a good workout. The whole, wore-out, dripping in sweat and feeling completely alive. As for a favorite portion or specific exercise, I'd have to say it's a three-way tie between my runs, squats and beating a heavy bag! Sadly, I do not have an area to hang my heavy bag where I am currently living...but that could/should be changing inside of the next month or two. :D :D

I work out at a college gym, and the yoga/big workout floor room is right beside the weight room. There's nothing better than punching the bag for a good minute, then running back to a bench to look innocent and normal. The only reason is that the yoga people are in the room on the other side, and it sounds like an earth quake if someone is hammering on the bag (it's attached to the wall hanging out), and it drives them NUTS! They always try running in to see who is doing it. I just make sure my routine is when the hours for yoga are posted on the wall beside the bag :D.

It reads:

During the hours posted, yoga sessions are in the room on the other side, and the punching bag is not to be used!
Hours:
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

And yoga at 105 degrees, I would have a heart attack! :D

And I used to HATE going to the gym, but now absolutely love it. It's a high like no other, and of course legal :p. I love working out to muscle failure, and seeing what you can really do, and what you're really made of.

It's also fun to hear girls talk about the stereotypes of weight lifters and being dumb, then surprise them with being on the chancellors list, deans advisory counsel, or help tutor them.... :D :D

Any points you might have earned with the first paragraph...well yea, you just lost 'em with that second paragraph. And to think, my female friends actually wonder why I don't talk to guys (hell I don't really talk to anybody) in the gym. :p

*makes mental note to double check the batteries in mp3 player. -Can't risk hearing either side of those conversations. They make me want to vomit on spot, and that would ruin my time in the gym. ;)

I really don't have a favorite part of my workouts or a favorite body part to work. I really like doing clean and presses and sandbag shouldering, so I would say working my whole body is my favorite part. My favorite workouts are 50/20 workouts. You try to get 50 reps of a chosen lift in 20 minutes. If you use "big" lifts it really gets your heart rate and lungs going, and you are done in less than half an hour.

I was talking about outside the gym, saying "hey weren't you at the gym yesterday ..." ;) relax relax blue :p

I rarely talk to people in the gym, except before or after workouts. It breaks my flow, plus I think people don't come up to me because of the serious look on my face when i'm trying to max out my set :p

I think about what a personal trainer said to me last summer, "If you have time to talk to people in the gym, you might as well not workout because the two don't go hand in hand." I totally agree with that.

I second that. Shut up and lift! I hate when people come up and talk like we're having coffee. I usually give them the cold shoulder, and hope they understand. O well

Talk all you want outside the gym. No, Remy I don't mean that specifically at you. However, it drives me up a wall when someone is hanging on a piece of equipment I want to use and all they are doing is having social hour with their buddy.

...and I am very relaxed. :p I had a good work-out, despite the people in the gym believing it was social hour and now I am taking a break from packing my apartment. :D

I switched into this gym in May or June and I've talked to a total of 3 people. I come out of the locker room with my mp3 player on and I don't take it off until I'm headed back to the locker room to grab my gear and head out the door.

I loved our gym in the basement of the P.D. before I retired. Old school. Lots of iron, the place stunk, no foo-foo posters on the wall, and the only talking you really heard was, "Lift you p****, come on, push it up!" And the responding, “F*****************K!!!!”

After I retired, I joined a local gym but did not last long there for the same reasons Blue has mentioned. It was like a freaking Payton Place, Oprah Winfrey, Runway Fashion Show all rolled into to one. Friggen cliquish as hell, snooty regulars who sat on machines BS'ing and would get all offended if you asked if you could please use the station.

I now just go to a small, simple county funded gym at one of the local Justice of Peace sites. Electronic lock opens with my I.D. card. Just the basics, but it is better than that GD foo-foo place I actually paid money for. Big bummer is not having a regular partner to spot. Oh well, you do the best with what you got.

That GD foo-foo gym also told me they did not appreciate me wearing my favorite work-out shirt in their establishment.

It had the sleeves torn off, had a couple of holes in it, with the sentence on front, “I’m not a gynecologist, but I’ll take a look.”

Doc, I have to spread the luv before I can rep you again. :(

I hate foo-foo gyms, and sadly that is exactly where I am. However, for the price and the fact that I can transfer my membership to any one of their locations nation wide it's been worth it as long as I ignor the 'scenery' or the retards that think they should have the title eye-candy (gag me). However, I think once I get settled again I am going back to a Power House, Gold's or World... anything but the place with the (no I'm not kidding!!) 'Lunk Alarm'.

I was thinking about a gold's membership for the summer, but dayumn at 188 for 3 months just for the summer, no thanks :) i'll look around a bit more.

If I want a machine someone is using i'll just walk right up to them and ask them. At the school gym there is no problem, as I haven't come across anyone with an attitude, everyone has been very accommodating, with it being so crowded. Do your set, share your bench/machine in-between sets.

Love running and love deadlifts, but nothing beats the flat bench.

I go to a tiny gym nowadays but the gym I went to in Boston had so much equpiment there was always a piece of equipment free; in fact, check out their website. Place is huge. Click on the Shy Join tab and then Tour bayshore... It is so huge!

Oh, and I only paid $19.99 a month and now I pay twice that for a tiny gym...

I love upperbody workouts. Hate leg workouts with the exception of bodyweight squats and running. I can handle the burn in the arms, but when my legs start burning I chicken out pretty quick.
