Other then Stafford Loan, does anyone have any recommendations on any? I've done Terri, but they rely on good credit.

My Dad sent me "Astrive" which I hear always advertise but they want a cosigner too. He's looking into it and will possibly cosign. I ended up getting a loan and didn't read it and was required to repay it IMMEDIATELY. And my school for some reason thinks the Stafford Loan isn't "Guaranteed" so they won't let me charge books against it. I guess it is possible the Government to go Bankrupt :rolleyes:

Sorry only used Sfafford Loan, the way they did mine was I got all of my check and everything deposited into my account at school and then w/e wasn't used for tuition I got in form of a check from my school!

Do it like I did. Work 40+ hours a week and pay your way through college. I graduated with only 5K in school loan debts. The loan was done privately through the local Knights of Columbus Hall.
Once you get older, married, and have kids you will only get 4-6 hours sleep anyway. Might as well get use to it at an early age. ;)

I like how some areas (Kzoo Mich) if you graduate in decent standing in HS, they will pay for your first two years or something like that.




At my school, they take the money out for tuition (30 days after class starts) and then in another 30 days you get another "disbursement" and if your tuition is all paid off, then you get it. For some reason Stafford Loans are always disb checks.

Either way, they gave me BARELY enough to cover tuition. Nothing for books, travel, supplies or anything. I can't get fina aid because even though I live on my own, parents make "too much money" even though I don't see a dime. Not b!tching, just saying. Gotta loan it up and pay what I can out of pocket. It sucks. Big time

Your tuition is paid for and your worried about what? maybe $250 for books? :eek: I don't count the other stuff. You can buy paper, pens & a binder for less than $10 at the local Wal-Mart. If you need a loan to pay for your gas to get to school....somethings way wrong. What's anything?

I looked into astrive and myrichuncle. They both wanted %11 interest. And that was with my parents as cosigners. If you find a place that is cheaper, let me know.

How about the local credit union? If you are a member, they should be able to get you decent rates.

I managed to get subsidized loans through CitiBank. Don't know if they still do all of that.

Who the hell pays $250 for books anymore, my criminal law book was $140 by itsself, I wish I could pay $250 for books. My first semesters books totalled $600 and that was buying them all used!!!!! This semster was a little eaiser because I had a lot of books but they were only $20 a piece because they are books like the state traffic deposit schedule, state statutes, motor vehilce laws.....etc.

I got a lot of money for college doing research on that site.

At the local college I went too, I would always go to class for at least a week before I bought any books. I found that about half of my classes the teacher would tell you everything you needed to know for the test if you just took good notes. It saved me alot of money in the long run.

Thats exactly what I do. Some teachers require something totally different.


Lately, I'm running into teachers who are making you bring the book the first day and doing lots of work considering its the first day :rolleyes:
