This flashlight was mentioned in Police magazine this month.
It uses ultra-capacitors, and has a runtime of 90 (low output) or 25 minutes (high output) between two minute charges. It is advertised to give off a maximum of 200 lumens of output.
Company website: http://www.ivusinc.com/lightning180.htm
More information should be available at Shot Show 2008, and I will post more when I find out about it.
If the price and performance are right, I can see this becoming the new favorite light for officers everywhere.
Based solely on the information found on the company's website, what I like:
Output (200 lumens is nice.)
Charge time (Use it up, put it in the cradle, and it ready to go a couple of minutes later. No need for extra battery sticks.)
Low maintenance (no replaceable parts)
What I don't like:
Microprocessor control (Adding complexity to something as vital as a flashlight could have disastrous results.)
Power save mode (I think most officers would prefer to have full output for as long as possible.)
Cost (I haven't seen an official price yet, but given how new it is, I doubt it will be cheap. Edit: a source on CPF says it will be $229, so approximately the same market as the Gladius.)
