Cops: Dad Arrested for Taping Packers Jersey to Son, 7
Wednesday, January 16, 2008
Associated Press

PORTAGE, Wis. — Upset that his 7-year-old son wouldn't wear a Green Bay Packers jersey during the team's playoff victory Saturday, a man restrained the boy for an hour with tape and taped the jersey onto him.

Mathew Kowald was cited for disorderly conduct in connection with the incident with his son at their home in Pardeeville, Lt. Wayne Smith of the Columbia County Sheriff's Department said. Pardeeville is about 30 miles north of Madison.

The 36-year-old Kowald was arrested Monday after his wife told authorities about the incident. Kowald was taken to the county jail and held until Wednesday, when he pleaded no contest, paid a fine of $186 and was released.

Kowald's wife filed a restraining order Wednesday, so Kowald will not be able to have contact with his family, Smith said. Smith said other domestic issues have surfaced, though he wouldn't elaborate.

The boy refused to wear the jersey Saturday, when the Packers beat the Seattle Seahawks in a playoff game, Smith said. Smith said the incident sounded strange when reported at first, but the mother took pictures with her cell phone and that type of evidence is difficult to dispute.

I couldn't be the Dad, because I only have daughters.

And I couldn't be the arresting officer, because I wouldn't have arrested the guy -- I would have given him a freakin' AWARD! :D

Follow up:

The next day Mr. Kowald was arrested for Domestic Violence and sexual Assault for throwing a wheel of gouda at his wife, striking her in the head.

As she lay unconscious, he taped a Michael Strahan #92 jersey to his wife, adorned himself in a Brett Favre jersey and helmet and had his way with her. More on this at 11.

Damn Packer fans...

Of the two left at home now, the 11 YO has (and wears) her own Packers tee shirt, and the 5 YO loves to watch the games with me ... and even offers up her stuffed dog "Scruffy" each Sunday (to sit with me during the game), because she KNOWS he has become part of the winning superstition/tradition ... :)

Smart kid.I agree:DYou know what's ironic about you dogging the Packers, GrahamX05?

You started picking games (in the weekly thread) during Week 8 of the season.

In the 11 games since that time, you picked Green Bay 8 times, and earned 8 "correct picks" for doing so.

Of the remaining 3 games, you picked Detroit over Green Bay twice, and the Packers beat them both games. Had you picked Green Bay, you would have had another 2 "correct picks".

The only "correct pick" you made that did NOT involve choosing Green Bay was the lone game against Dallas.

I'd say it's pretty ironic for someone to dog the team that has earned them 8 "correct picks" - which COULD have been 10 "correct picks" - out of 11 games.

If I were you, my fellow Red Wings fan, I'd be changing my pick in your post in the 2007 NFC Conference Championships (http://forums.realpolice.net/showpost.php?p=871739&postcount=3) thread sometime before Sunday evening.

Then again, what do I know? ;)

My pick was correct :D:p:DIt doesn't change the fact that you dogged a team all season while picking them all season and winning points off of them all season.

All it proves is that even a blind squirrel gets lucky some times ... ;)

I picked the Packers all season because I figured they would win, I also picked the Lions all season;) I picked NY out of hope that they would win, not for their record they were indeed the underdog and this time it worked:D
