MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) - An Australian teenager who threw a wild party while his parents were away could face a hefty fine after police said Monday they might charge him for the cost of breaking the gathering up.

More than 500 people turned up to the party Saturday in the southern city of Melbourne, and some of them went on a rampage when police responded to complaints about the noise.

Police cars were pelted with glass bottles and nearby houses and gardens were vandalized before at least 30 officers, a helicopter and the dog squad were able to end the melee at the suburban home. No one was arrested.

Victoria state Police Commissioner Christine Nixon said it would be difficult to prove exactly who caused the estimated $18,000 in damage, but the youth may hold ultimate responsibility because he threw the party.

"He needs to learn a lesson, and one way or another we will be making sure that happens," Nixon told reporters at a news conference.

The 16-year-old told local media he had no regrets about the party because he believed invited guests had no role in the ruckus. Asked if he would do it again, the youth said he would do it again this weekend - if his parents were not due home from a vacation this week.

Victoria's acting Premier Rob Hulls said the youth's parents had no idea about the party and were horrified when police told them what had happened.

A sixteen year old shouldn't be throwing a party anyway, particularly behind his parents' backs. And 500 people?!

In a case like this....

Beat his a$$ mom and dad!

Unless they can't...... or won't.....

This total asshat has been in the tv on current affirs and morning tv shows.

When asked what advice he had for other young people who were thinking of throwing a party he said for them to call him as he could arrange the best party ever.

Stand by for a photo and you will see what I mean.....

The teenager that 'never does anything wrong', is either (one) really good at sneaking things behind the 'rents back. Or (two) the next serial killer plotting on moving from torturing the neighbors' dog to something larger. Either way, I'd keep my eyes on that kid.

Okay, this is a good example of the over stated question "Where are the parents?" Oh yea, on vacation... only in this case I think these two nit-wits who have raised this Darwin prize have been on vacation the entire time.

As Jo and Stephen Delaney returned to their home, vowing to discipline their 16-year-old son, Corey was nowhere to be seen.

He said earlier that he wasn't keen to face the music and planned to dodge his parents for as long as possible.

"I don't answer their calls, I just hang up. When they get home, I'm not going to be home," he said.

Mr and Ms Delaney cut short their Gold Coast holiday yesterday to confront their son.

The couple were livid that Corey betrayed their trust by throwing a party at their Narre Warren home that spun out of control when a rioting mob of up to 500 youths pelted officers with rocks and bottles, and smashed police cars

With their kid having an attitude like that (and an appearance like that...) I am amazed that the parents actually had the ballz to tell the media he betrayed their trust. Trust??  What trust?!?! This is a child, C-H-I-L-D, not an adult friend.

Do some people suddenly become parents and miraculously forget what it was like to be a teenager? Do they actually think their kid won’t try the same things they did?? Yeaaaaaa, okay.

I have no room to speak or judge this kid for what he did.

Shades of '82. Suffice it to say, when I was 16, my Dad and step-monster left the state for Thanksgiving.

Without going into details, all I can say is: 500 people were at this kids party? That was nothing.

Wow...he's getting fined $18,000 and he'd still do it again this weekend if his parents were out of town? Seriously...Watched the interview with him and the reporter's trying to get him to take off his glasses and apologize and he won't...didn't even put a shirt on to go on national television. Definitely not a kid I'd be proud of.

Not only is this kid a complete moron, but he looks like a total clown. He doesn't want to take those glasses off more than likely because it will expose the fact that he's high on something...

This kid is just feeding on this attention. I can't believe nobody got arrested for all of this!

A teenager has been charged and bailed over a party in the Melbourne suburb of Narre Warren on Saturday night.

He was interviewed by police earlier today, before being charged with producing child pornography and creating a public nuisance.

It is alleged police cars were pelted with bottles after officers were called to break up the gathering.

One 16-year-old has been charged and bailed. Another 16-year-old will be charged on summons.

The pair will face the Children's Court at a later date.

I wish the media would let this die a natural death. All the attention is just giving this f%ckwit exactly t he wants.

His parents ahd arranged for him to be at a relatives house while they were away. He racked off from there to have his party. As George stated he was arrested, and the next thing we know, two 16 yr olds are getting charge with making child pornography.

The little coward is still refusing to return home to face his parents and is in 'hiding'. Although, we know where to find him. ;)

I can't believe people want to reward this irresponsible little coward.

This is getting rediculous. This kid is such a coward, and obviously is not man enough to stand up for his actions. He'd rather hide while acting like some super hero while completely ignoring the people who more than likely paid for the ugly glasses on his face and the clothes he is wearing. This kid is one of the most immature I've came across in quite some time.
