I come to this thought, for The safety of all officers,

Maybe a few weeks ago, A state police got in a gun fight with a criminal in his cruiser, now how the Criminal "got a gun" I have no idea,Im thinking lazy searches, little bit too comfortable with his surroundings, from there I'm out of ideas, you tell me? My point is, whats some good Search techniques, I know Special forces training has real good Searching tactics, whats some of your all's thoughts?

Also the State police turned around and shot him in the head, before he was shot,I live in Eastern kentucky, I know its not Detroit,Miami,Cali etc, But too me, you can never be too comfortable with assailant's.

We use a tactic, were you make them put there hands on there head, elbows close in, and and legs spreaded.real wide, then you put your foot inbetween one of ther legs, to control there balance, they turn around and punch, slide your foot and take him down, or block the punch, slide your arm underneath there shoulder, grab there head, and jerk them down to take the balance,This is just one of our Tactics, They use it at the jail alot, I guess when stuff like this comes to mind it all depends on common sense, smarts, and knowing your enemy's Weak points

Sorry to be such a nuisance, Just trying to help out.:)

This is gone over at length in the academy and doesn't need to be discussed in an open forum.

Strip search

Simple and easy

Knowing how to properly search someone really isn't that interesting honestly so I don't see what the big deal is.

Alright...I'll give and tell you

The best way to search...is to search good enough where if the person has something, then its found. Thats how you search :)

Depends how thorough you want to be.
Pat down the whole body, underarms, groin, turn sleeves, up, pull shirts up, turn waistbands out on pants, turn up the bottom of the pant legs, take hats off check the hat for anything.

If you have a female in custody make sure you're in front of the camera for when she start making accusations and make it clear that she is on camera so she knows you're not worried about it.
Best (but not always available) option is to have a female officer search her. Some like to run their baton across the body to find hidden items, not really best in my opinion.

Then after ask if they have anything, remind them the penalty increases significantly if they take contraband into the jail and ask again if they have anything.

That's how I was taught.
Better too thorough than not thorough enough.

jrg-

A couple of things here.

1.) This thread is nearly a year old. The original poster has not logged on since December of 2007. Digging up old threads to respond to is considered poor form.

2.) Did you read the whole thread before posting? There was a verified officer who responded first. This officer properly pointed out that an open internet forum is not the place to be discussing officer tactics such as this. I take it you disagree with him. I don't, though, and I would be surprised if any of the mods did, either.
