Which one and why? About to be appointed an auxiliary police officer and i was wondering which is better.

It depends entirely on your size, and which one you are more comfortable with. 2" is not going to make or break you if you have to use it.

im 6' 216 lbs. ive held both. i feel like the 24 is more of a one handed weapon and the 26 is more of a two handed weapon. idk which would be more effective. the 26 is probably more powerful but the 24 must be faster.....again the classic match between speed and power :)

By absence of additional info, are we to assume that the ONLY differences between your two choices are a 2" longer length and the slight weight difference due to the added length?

My two pesos (reiterated): If you're planning on using it to actually hit someone/something - carry the longest/heaviest stick with which you can quickly swing and deliver fast, multiple strikes.

Also, if you're skilled, 2" won't make THAT much difference. And, if you suck, 2" won't make any difference...

yes, 2" is the only difference

What do you mean by "grip recommendations"? Are you asking where you should grip, how you should grip, or what you could use or how you could modify your baton to enhance your grip, or how to improve/strengthen your grip, etc?

i ment which grip is better... grenade, billy, knurled, ect. ect, for a polycarbonate baton

I think that's going to be personal preference. If you can, try each style out by hitting a heavy bag or tire for a couple of minutes, even better, while your hands are sweaty... you may also want to try tennis racquet type grip tape or hockey tape (properly/securely affixed and color matched)...

Thats not nice. Im not forcing you to respond. I thought LEO's were supposed to help out, but apparently your too good to answer a question from a beginner.

Your questions had already been answered before I viewed the thread. Although, I must admit, I would not have taken the time to address the difference between two inches, and especially not the time to decipher "grip" names I have never heard before in the law enforcement career field.

I would suggest using a grip that does not allow the baton to be taken away from you and inserted making you look like a popsicle bouncing down the street. How’s that for being nice? ;)

Your sarcastic wit is just too much for me. I cannot compete.

Good luck hanging onto that baton. :D By the way, you may have made a good choice going for the shorter one. :p

I will carry the shorter one. At least its thicker than your flimsy asp.:)

Oh, I get it now. That baton of yours is more of a phallic symbol to you.

First you were worried about how many inches, then you went to grip and now you are focused on girth.

(Damn, I was going to let this lie, but the rookie sure opened the door. :D)

Actually, you may have just gotten yourself banned for an immature insult on a senior member's mother.

This forum expects its members to much more adult than your conduct.

Adios.

You started with me by saying this. THIS is immature. Your the one who started with me. Of course im going to say something back. You should be banned. Your a LEO and you have the nerve to say this to a rookie. Who do you think you are? Your a discrase to the badge you wear. Yes, we both said immature things, but the simple fact that YOUR the one who started it should justify my comments.

You won't understand this, but there is a huge difference between humorous adult banter and resorting to juvenile "mother insults."

Your true character has surfaced.

You are no longer worth any effort, no matter how menial.

Adios.

No, your the one who doesnt understand. You do not understand that their are people, such as myself, who actually defend themselves against insults. Think of a mother joke as Krav Maga. Direct, brutal, and usually ends the fight fast. You came to this thread with the intent to insult me, but you yourself cannot handle an insult yourself. How bizzare is that? Checkmate :)

Ohhhhh poor baby can't take a rookie comment:rolleyes:..... I gotta suggestion for you.... Get the hell over it and keep your mouth shut. Not only will you most likely be banned from this forum for having a big mouth you will never make it as a police officer either especially if you get this rude and childish over stupid rookie comment.

I do not see you making it very far in a LE career with your ignorant mouth.

The only question I have is who will get tired of your mouth quicker..

Who does he think he is? Who do you think you are talking to someone like that... Especially a veteran police officer.

You sir are an idiot.

Right, I sincerely doubt that...

Please contain your prickly, and apparent juvenile behaviour to yourself. Just because someone offers you bait, doesn't mean you have to take it.

Also, keep in mind that you are new here and will be sent for a permanent "time out" if your temper tantrums continue.

Just saw this.

'Bye. :)

Oh, and if you think that the "mother" joke is the mother-of-all-jokes and will abruptly end a dispute, go check out the new "3:10 to Yuma" movie. Whether life imitates art or art imitates life, "mother" jokes never end well.
