I recently returned from our police explorer academy that we attend yearly. It was one of the best experiences of my life, just like it is every year I go.

We took a 4hr long DAAT (defence and arrest tactics) class, I heard one of the funniest quotes I have ever heard. The officer teaching the class told us that as a officer who just starts out, a lot of officers make the mistake when someone says they are not leaveing a building or something, the rookie officers make the mistake of saying "wanna bet"....when he said that we all busted out laughing

When I was in the Police Academy, we were doing our firearms class and doing dry fires. So basically were all in this room standing in front of the wall drawing and squeezing the trigger practicing good draw technique. Well as we're standing there on the lines, some people actually had their hands on their gun instead of up on front of their chest like they were supposed to. (I wasnt doing this mind you)

So the firearms instructor yells "Get your damn hands off your guns. You aren't going to have your hand on your gun when youre on a contact."

So naturally I blurt out... "But sir, that's just how I roll"

He gets this evil glare and says, "Lawson, if you want, we can move these tables and chairs out of the way and Ill SHOW you how you roll."

:D

I have a real hard time believing he or anyone else would've even been able to roll a 6'7" goliath. :D

That sounds like our DAAT class....when we did pressure point, I screamed like a little girl.....and then when we had to do arresting techniques, the instructor (my advisor) picked me to be the B*tch....that was a lot of fun.
