Hi everyone, first time posting... I am taking the Mount Vernon physical agility test on Saturday and I was wondering how strict they are on passing. Will they fail you for missing a push up or two over the time or if you run a little slower than the time given. I have been training but I can't quite get the mile and a half run under the 12:30 mark yet. I know a couple of guys that took the NYPD physical and they passed it but they were more out of shape than I am. Anyone know how strict they are or has anyone not completed the exercises to what was expected and still passed??

You have to meet the standards in all categories or it's a failure, even if it means 1 push up or 2 seconds on the run. It's pass or fail, there is no "good enough" rating.

nypd physical doesn't compare to Westchester physicals they are pretty strict you might do 10 push ups but only 8 will count.. Just keep pumping them out until they call time.. and the run on the last lap just push yourself the adrenaline will kick in you'll do fine.. and i do not at all mean the NYPD's is easier or harder they are just completely different pros and cons for both

Yes, they are strict. I'll be there on Saturday. If you didn't attend the practice last Saturday, you should. It was definately helpful...Good luck to you.

First of all, what i am about to say isnt to be rude or be a ****. I know all the LEOs will agree with me and it makes sense.
If you aren't in damn good shape, then you don't deserve to be a cop. Your goal shouldn't be to meet the requirements, it should be to blow them away. Put it this way. If you and your partner are chasing a mope and your partner catches up to him and takes him down while you're 250ft back huffin and puffin. Theres a good chance your partner is gonna get stabbed, shot, and possibly killed cause you weren't in good enough shape to have his back. Its not an opinion, its a fact.
Thats why I'm not a cop yet, I'm not in good enough shape yet, so I'm not wasting my time applying. Where I'm from we have to do 1.5m in 11:58, 40 situps in a min, and 33 pushups in a min. For me, I dont want to be a cop until I can do 11:00, 50 and 40.
