NEW ROCHELLE - A $2,500 reward has been offered for information leading to the arrest and indictment of a suspect who beat and robbed a civilian police department employee after she wrote a parking ticket for a man who left his car in a handicapped spot illegally.
New York State Crimestoppers is hoping to help capture the man who attacked the officer in the parking lot of the main branch of the city's public library about 1 p.m. Jan. 25. Police said the officer was confronted by the man after writing the ticket near the intersection of North Avenue and Anderson Street.
After a brief argument, the man went into a nearby restaurant and got his girlfriend, then tracked the officer down and attacked her in the library parking lot. The victim was punched and kicked to the ground and had her ticket book and police radio stolen.
The man was described as black, in his late teens or early 20s. He had a short to medium build and was wearing a dark jacket and dark wool cap with a Brooklyn logo on it. The woman was described as black, in her late teens or early 20s, and of medium height and build. She possibly had blond highlights in her hair.
Anyone with information is asked to call 1-866-313-TIPPS (8477). All calls will be kept confidential.
