In the state of Illinois we hace the POWER test to decide whether an applicant is in good enough shape to do the job of a peace officer. Does Wisconsin have a similar test? I believe I've searched the ends of the Internet and have only found the tests for the Wisconsin State Police and the Madison Police department and both of those tests are not alike at all. Maybe my answer is that they are all different. Any help would be great. Thanks.
Okay, I did your homework for you. It took me 3 minutes. I typed in "wisconsin police physical standards" in Google and I found this site posted off another message board of someone asking the same quesiton:
http://www.the911site.com/911pd/wisconsin.shtml#local
From this site, I was able to determine that Wisconsin State Patrol use the Cooper Test = 300 M run, Pushups, situps and 1.5 mile run. I did not find their minimum qualifications for each test, but I didn't spend alot of time looking either.
Also, from this site you can link to different municipal agencies in Wisconsin. For example, Madison. A couple of quick links to the site below, got me to their minimum physical qualifications, which seem low...I mean....obtainable.
http://www.cityofmadison.com/police/HiringPkt/HiringInfoSht.html#MinQual
a. Abdominal Strength: Twenty-five (25) sit-ups in one (1) minute, performed while sitting on the floor, legs secured, knees bent, hands folded across the chest with the torso reaching at least a 90 degree angle with the floor.
b. Flexibility: One (1) sit-and-reach; a toe-touching test performed (for three seconds) from the sitting position, the legs will be straight.
c. Cardio-Vascular Endurance: One and one-half (1-1/2) miles in no more than fourteen minutes, thirty seconds (14:30) running and/or walking on an indoor track.
d. Upper Body Strength: Bench press one-half of your body weight to a locked-elbow position from the chest, fifteen (15) times in one (1) minute.
I guess Wisconsin does not have a standardized test and it will vary between agencies. I am sure they all have some test. You should work on those detective skills....:) ......JK

Thanks for your time, Taxx. If you read my original post you will see that I've already found the tests for those two department and have come up with the same conclusion. I just wanted to make sure the conclusion was correct. However, that is an awesome website that you found listing the departments. Thanks again.
