Actually this was the only hit this band ever had in 1984.
They only released one album.
After that they vanished and who knows what happened to them.
MTV, KROQ, and KISS FM, were going nuts over it (at least here in LA)
Quote from AOL.com music:

Seasons in the Sun by Terry Jacks
This song was a worldwide hit song for Terry Jacks in 1974. It was first released in the United States and Canada early in the year, and rose to number one in America by March 2, making is a 'hit' .... and since no one ever really heard from Terry Jacks again - it certainly was his only.
For those that are too young to remember .....
Goodbye to you my trusted friend
We´ve known each other since we were nine or ten
Together we´ve climbed hills and trees
Learned of love and abc´s
Skinned our hearts and
Skinned our knees
Goodbye my friend it´s hard to die
When all the birds are singing in the sky
Now that spring is in the air
Pretty girls are everywhere
Think of me and I´ll be there .........

1927 hit the Aussie Charts in the 80's with their first and only album,
"...Ish". They were huge for about a year and then promptly vanished into the pub scene and then, ultimately, obscurity.
The lead singer appeared on a Saturday night variety show, "Hey, Hey It's Saturday" in a talent show that usually displayed people's lack of talent. Within weeks, the band had contacted the singer, he had made numerous tv appearances, and very soon after they had a massive album.....then nothing!

I can not BELIEVE that this thread has gone this many pages and replies and NO BODY has mentioned
"Magic" by Pilot (http://www.noolmusic.com/blogs/YouTube_Music_Videos_60s_70s_-_Magic_-_Pilot.shtml)!!
I was stationed overseas and got this song in my head and could not remember who did it. Nor could anyone else! Had to wait 9 months to get back to the states to call a radio DJ who finally told me who this wonderful band was!
P.S. Sorry for the cheesy video, but hey, what do you expect for so long BEFORE MTV??

Nena
English: 99 Red Balloons (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EetJmgHgm4A)
German: 99 Luftballons (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YlGN4rCiBRs) (Definitely the better version)
Hey Kate, here you go wrong. I Germany Nena was very popular in the early 80th and she had her comeback since around two years.
She had a lot of hits here in Germany in the eighties.
Remember the british SUN with the picture of Nena with unshaved armpits in the 80th, that was funny. Looked like growing grass under her arms:eek:
