Just played the demo for this on Xbox 360, and I gotta say, it blew my hair back. Tight controls, excellent graphics and ambiance, sweet sound. I was not even interested in this game, now it I will be picking it as soon as possible. I has the makings of a great tac shooter.
Last time I was in Vegas I spent a lot of time in the Luxor, New York-New York, and the Excaliber, I hope these locations are in the game.
I love this game!!! It's even better playing on xbox live. If anyone wants to play online, let me know.

I haven't played Vegas but I have all the other R6 games as well as the Ghost Recons and I LOVE THEM!

this is more like those newer non strategy shooters. This is more of a doom shooter. I like R6 games because of all the strategy and the mods you could do to the game, this is nothing more than an arcade game on the pc.
Now, I'm told this is a great game on the 360, because that's the system it was made for, it was just a very bad port to the pc imo.

Ditto. I had/have them all. I cannot for the love of me install Lockdown for the life of me. Cannot find the patch needed for my PC setup.

This is indeed a fantasic looking game, but they should have added an option to turn off the constant cursing, and I was really disapointed to hear about the flood of AXE ads in the game. :(
Lucky1, Chewy, and anyone other RP'ers, my gamertag is SevenMMmag. If you play R6 Vegas, and want to get together for some Coop Terrorist Hunt, send me a message and I would be happy to play. Coop Hunt is a blast, and I am looking for someone to play coop with through the entire story mode.

I hear what you're saying, but this is the first R6 title for PC that I actually enjoy playing. It's flat gorgeous and I love the shootouts. I enjoyed playing Rainbow Six in the past, but only in the thick of it--I couldn't stand all the eeeeendless mission planning and ops stuff. Gimme a route, gimme a gun, and let's go.
I understand a lot of die hard R6 fans are saying the same things you've said. I can see how this title would disenfranchise 'em. For me, it's brought me back to the series because while the realism of the weapons and the shootouts is better than ever, I don't have to spend an hour planning a mission before I get to play (and yes, that's exaggeration, you know what I'm saying). :D
SO, from the other side of the coin: If you HATED older versions of Rainbow Six on PC, give this one a whirl, it's significantly different. As far as shooters go, it's damn good--I like it better than F.E.A.R. and SWAT 4.

If anyone's interested, here's two short clips of me playing the game tonight. I'm tellin' ya, this game should be called "Rainbow Six: Firefight" because the gunfights are kil-ler.
First video is an entry on a room, second is a coupla gunfire exchanges. Video doesn't do the graphics justice--compressed for upload.

Lotta people complaining about Ubi's choice to use the Unreal 3 Engine in this one. That requires your video card be pixel shader 3.0-compliant. Knocks a lot of people's systems out of the running.
Anywho, I'm diggin' it. If ya care. :D

That looks pretty cool. I like the animations, but I wish some FPS's tried to animate you taking the way too many guns you carry, out of your holster.
How much is that? $49?
My dad/brother used to play all of those original PC games, and I installed one of the first R6's, and I was impressed. For an old game, I liked it. This version looks better than CS:S.
It looks like they used the Quake engine? I played Quake 4, and they look similar.

The comma is there for a reason. In a lot of first person shooters, you can hold a large amount of ammo and guns on your that would really bulk you down in real life.

The video does some "clipping" at 30 second intervals. Program I'm using to record gameplay (Fraps) is shareware and only lets you record 30 seconds at a time. I paste 'em together using Windows Movie Maker.
If you want to try that program Fraps, you can get it here:

I just wish the PC version's TDM servers weren't always a ghost town...it's rockin playing that game online, but there's usually all of about two servers in the list when I look for a game. I've gotten so hard up for tac fps multiplayer I'm back to SWAT 4 for a quick fix.

Anyone playing the single player campaign mode?
I'm playing on Normal and getting my *** handed to me consistently. I didn't have too too much trouble with the first border town mission, but the second mission is another story. It took me 6 times to just get into the building. I'm at the part now where you have to save the hostages before they're executed on television. The room with all the escalators is what's holding me back. It's tough when the bad guys have the high ground and I don't have any weapons that have scopes.

Disregard. Twelve tries later and a lot of running and gunning and I'm past it. I can see why people call it the atrium of death though.

I'm playing through the game a second time on Realistic mode. Its tricky, and i'm stuck in the Calypso Casino where you have to go up 3-4 flights of stairs, with tangos on each set, and then above and below you.
Are you re-outfitting yourself at each equipment crate? I use only assault rifles with both having the 6x scope. Scopes are a must!

That's the part I was originally stuck at. I checked an online walkthrough and it turns out I missed 2(!) resupply crates(one in the parking lot by a swat van and one in a cashier's room within the casino) and was stuck with no frags and using weapons acquired from dead terrorists.
I fired it up last night before work only to find out that it didn't save one of my checkpoints for some reason, and I have to redo one of the upper multi-level casino floors/Keno room. I've beat that part once before, and I found the suppy crate there. Last time I customized my mp5 and SAW with rifle scopes. When I beat it this time I'll make sure I go farther so the checkpoint sticks. Those damn things are so few and far inbetween.

Consider going with the the MTAR and SCAR-CQC assault rifles. Both have good range and damage, while the the MP5 and SAW are limited. With both rifles scoped, you can really kill at range, and both are more than adequate for close quarters. Good Luck!

Finally beat Calypso Casino. Thanks for the tip on the assault rifles 7mm. Being able to snipe a baddie or two helped even the odds alot when assaulting the large rooms with little safe cover points.

I kind of cheated on that last part. Once you are in the elevator you can click the Left Trigger button to go up against the elevator door right in the middle where it should open, then you wiggle around and it lets you slip through the doors. Then you can run up to the missile without triggering any enemies to spawn. :p

Guitar Hero is great. My girlfriend bought it, and I figured I would hate it. In fact, for the first 20-30 minutes I was thinking to myself, this sucks. Suddenly, as you start to catch on, its friggen fun, addicting fun.

Back on topic, I'm stuck outside the room where they're holding the reporter hostage in the second casino. Everytime I try to rescue her, someone pops her.
I've tried several times the way the official guide says to do it, which is have your team flash on the bottom level while you enter upstairs and take out the tangos on the balcony. It always ends in failure.
What did you guys do?

I used no flash bangs and just bull rushed in. It took a couple of times. Have your squad members get the guys around her and you go after the would be killer. Then after that it gets harder. Good luck.

Yah if I remember right everytime I tried to use flash bangs I failed, I ended up charging the room and having my men take out the ones closest to her first. Took a few tries to get it right.

Starting working on the "Statosphere" level this evening before work. I've rescued the doctor and now I have to go after the bomb. So far it's been fairly easy, knock on wood.

Yah I found that level to be one of the easier ones. There was really only one part I found tricky and that was because I kept getting flanked until I realized where they were coming from, after that it was simple.
I finally finished the single player campaign on realistic difficulty. Talk about a pain in the a-hole. Many times I had the powerful urge to throw the controller out the front window of my house.

Yes, I played them in my old "clan" in Call of Duty 2, we had sponsers etc. killed them, kind of funny how they take it so over the edge. They got us in trouble because we were in first and they said we were cheating so we got booted from the ladder =/. Funny story though.
