I wish they'd remake those and add some SWAT type action sequences. Anyway if you wanna play the old CGA police quest games look up Underdog and he has some links to download 'em.
Yup I remember it.. played it quite often too but kept getting killed though. LOL
Then I got hooked on Doom for awhile.

I loved those games, I seem to remember using a can of hair spray and a lighter at one point in the game to take out a tranny. (Ive played so many video games that the old ones blend together sometimes. So I could be wrong about the tranny.)

you are correct: it was Police Quest 4, and you were in a theater. :)
It was near the end of the game.

I was never able to get to play the original games up till Swat 2. At first my pc wouldn't support them (IBM XT) and then when I was older and had P3 and P4 machines, they wouldn't run. I loved the swat2 game, and I really wish someone else made a strategy game like that updated to todays graphics. It reminded me of a game called Heist, but I could never get that to play right either.

It was ****e. You didn't miss much. I played the demo and rented it form the local video store. Couldn't return it quick enough.
I still have all of them sitting here on my bookshelf next to me. They were fun to play.

I played this game tons when I was a kid... is there a version out there of the Original Police Quest that will work on newer computers? I'd love to get back into playing this... I'll have to search my moms house and see if I can't find them, we had Police Quest I through Swat I. After the change in Swat 2 I lost interest...

Many of the Police Quest games are now downloadable, due to their age.
You will need a program to slow down your computer enough for them to be playable. You might even consider a virtual machine.
You could try finding the Police Quest Collection on ebay. It has PQ 1-4 and the PQ1 re-make. It also has SWAT. I miss those games. Sonny Bonds was cool. The first SWAT although short was a fun game. I liked that they used real actors. Don't see too much of that anymore.

I loved those games! Unfortunately, my last computer was too fast to handle them properly, and my new one is even faster.
I used to date a girl who maintained a 486, just to play the "oldies but goodies." I think that might be what I miss most about her... :D

I've got a friend that sales arcade games. If anyone is interested, I think he's got a POLICE TRAINER game for sale. The one with the 2 guns and you gotta shoot the bad guys but not the citizens.. its awesome.

SWAT close quarters battles was pretty sweet.
They're coming out with a new one.
They used to have, like mentioned, all the Police Quests in one package but I found it to have a few bugs. First, sometimes when you would get in your police car after your wife was attacked you would be talking with your partner. Since you were talking, you couldnt control your car....which was moving...which would end up flying off the road and you dieing.
There was also a bug at the spot where you had to map out where all the murders took place. I had them in the right spot but the game didnt recognize it and wouldnt let me past that point.
Oh, and also the discs were labeled wrong. Disc one was actually disc 2, 2 was 3, 3 was 4, 4 was Police Quest Extras, and Police Quest Extras was 1.
I still play this game from time to time cause it works under XP. I remember it took me years too actually finish the game without the Chief getting sacked. There I was thinking my men not dying was the important part
Also bought 3 but never got into it, the controls annoyed me.
You can download all these games from Home of the Underdog once the site is up again.
ya are their any good police games you can play?? Like similar to True Crime?

I am playing a game called "GUN" for the PC right now. The initial drawn character "Ned" is Chris Kristopherson (voice as well) and I am up to another character that is Tom Skeritt. There may have been or yet to be more... I am having trouble getting past the Hideout Attack where the Gatling gun jams on the "Skeritt" character and I have to keep him alive and stay alive myself.
Really cool and beautiful game based on the popular conception of the wild west, but not for kids... lots of cursing and some vulgarity... right up a Cops alley :D Playing it on my Windows Media Computer 3.4 Ghz, 2 gig memory, on my 44" LCD with surround... Gawd its beautifully drawn, IMHO.

Maybe I'm one of the last to find this out, but it made me so happy, so I thought I'd share.
Sierra has re-released a special edition of Police Quest 1-3 and SWAT 1 in one box. And this one actually works on Windows XP, 98se, Me and 2000.
I bought my copy for about $30 Canadian.
