I was looking for recommendations on holster that allows you to keep the tac light attached to your gun. I recently started carrying a Safariland holster. I don’t know what I think of it. I love keeping the tac light on the gun. Just curious if any of you carry the tac light on your gun at all times and if so what holster you use.

the safariland sls something (lol, i know that dont help much) seems to be one of the best "non" nylon holster with this option. i havent seen or read much of any others like it. i'll look around though.

Safariland has excellent holsters. Try www.copsplus.com

Look at the holster you want and choose the tac lite option.

Bianchi makes a fairly good one also. You aren't going to find a whole lot of options out there for these types of holsters yet. I think you will see a better variety in the coming years. If you get the safariland you can also get an optional hood to increase the retention level, but reviews are mixed on how well it works.

The department I work for just started allowing us to use TAC Lights out on Patrol. I chose to buy the Safariland 6280 Series holster (double retention) in plain leather, so I can keep the light on at all times. You never know when you will have to do a building search, an underground parking garage during the day. Also, once you switch to a TAC light on your gun, you will wonder why they ever taught that akward Harry's flashlight technique:D

The Saraland is a great holster. I liked more as a drop holster than on the hip, though. I didn't like the release digging into my lats and I found it a bit ackward to work the hood when carrying in a high ride.

I love my Sidearmor and Blade-tech rigs, but they offer no retention over the adjustable tension screw. It's ok for me (plain-clothed), but is less suitable for uniform guys.

I recently received my G-Code SOC rig. It;s my understanding that Blackhawk is making it (maybe they bought G-Code out, I don't know). It seems like a great rig. It has a hood, much like the Safariland SLS. THe difference is that the hood is automatic when you push the button. It's also a huge benefit that the holster can be swapped between a thigh rig and belt carry with 4 screws. It also allows you to replace the cowling portion (the part that covers the weapons dust cover or the flashlight) when you add a light to your gun or swap lights. IT takes 6 screws and you need not buy a new holster when swapping out light models.

I will try to get a pic up soon.
