LASD trains their new recruits in this style of fighting, not exclusively but they use a lot of their principles. The DT instructors mix it in with some grappling as well. Its a very aggressive style of stand up fighting. I also have seen a new school pop up in my area, but havent got the chance to check it out. It orginated within the Israeli Army, I believe.
Krav Maga is Israeli Martial Arts. I know that one of the instructors at STARS stated that he was trained in it. On a side note, we are starting DT on Monday. Should be fun. A nice 4 hr block of time!!!
I trained with 360 Self Defense in Signal Hill (Long Beach) before going to Iraq. The training is very effective and can be used in real life situations, not really for MMA style fighting. There are some excellent techniques for weapon retention, etc...many books..DVDs.

I plan to start KM within the next few months. On my list of stuff to do. I like the fact that it's all for practical applications.
I am currently taking Krav Maga. We had a four hour block this morning. I am already sore! Great stuff!
