I got a call today that my Agility test is 9:00am, what is the best way to prepare for this? They said dont eat anything before the test but is this a good idea? I won't have much energy if I dont at least eat something. Im thinking of drinking a red bull instead (on an empty stomach) is this a good idea? I have not been drug tested yet, do you think they will be doing that there as well?

Also one more question, when running should i breathe through my mouth or my nose? (which will get more O2 to me?...I heard nose but I wanted someone to confirm it)

Thanks

BTW here is what I have to do:

38 Situps in 1 minute
29 Pushups in a minute
1.5 miles in 12:29

Is that tougher then most places or about right?

You know what you're up against so I hope you've been timing yourself. Eat a very light breakfast. Something to give you energy. Don't over do it because you'll puke during the test and that is what they want to avoid.

+1

A Power Bar (or whatever your choice of energy bar is) and Gatorade is always good too. I love Red Bull, but I personally wouldn't drink one before the P.T. test, as those things make me pee like crazy. :D

Best way to find out what else you'll be doing that day is simply to call and ask. We had our P.T. test early in the morning (I believe it was around 6:30 or so), then we all got sent to the doc's office as a group for medicals, then got drug tested, then had our psych evals...it was a loooong day. But it saved us from having to make multiple trips, so that was actually a good thing.

Good luck to you!

load up on carbs the night before. Pasta would be sufficient. Eat a power bar or oatmeal before the test. You dont want to stuff yourself because your performance will be affected. The pasta the night before should provide your body with plenty of carbs for your usage in the morning!

Tank thats exactly the agility exam I took eat light, I would say either a small oatmeal breakfast cookie or a bananna. Worked well in my case if I can give you any other tips let me know

Oatmeal and a banana are a good suggestion - plenty of water, nothing too too heavy though, so keep the portion size small. Energy drink would work too, just be careful that you time it right so you don't crash before your run.

Congrats on passing. That looks like a NY agility test. What agency are you taking it for, if you don't mind me asking.

gotta love the "equal opportunity"

when women are expected to do the same exact job yet get something like an extra 3 or 4 minutes on the run to qualify, need to do less pushups and sit ups, need to lift less weight...etc....

why is that so?

they're all supposed to be doing the same job in the field correct?
