Wow, that is the most suspicious looking link I've ever seen. I advise everyone NOT to click that.

Self Defense without weapons? Sounds like Karate to me!
Empty-handed, baby!
Hey TD, I'm just busting your chops! I haven't formally trained in Sambo but I've learned a little along the way and have found that what I've learned blends pretty well with other grappling arts that I've trained in...

When I eat at Sambos, I create a perfect self-defense gas.
Looks like judo with leg locks

I've trained and learnt some SAMBO.
It is the hand-to-hand system that the Russian military uses.
This system is no joke and can turn almost anyone into a lethal weapon.
My father is old soviet special forces. He is an expert in SAMBO.
He's 5'6" and trained many paramilitary forces from the Soviet-bloc.
Everything you've seen in that little movie doesn't give the system any justice.
It's a system built on one fundamental principle, to be able disarm and kill without the use of any weapons.
All of that stuff you see on the tape is the less-lethal westernized version of the system.
The real version has specialized strikes, submissions and holds that are meant to break bones and kill any opponent.

Sambo is the real deal. My pops is a Russian Special forces vet who served in the A-Stan back in the days the Russians were there. Im 5' 3" and have always been small, so my dad thought it would be a good idea to teach me it to defend my self. Growing up in queens nyc as a short white kid, you wind up running into many physical altercations and despite several robbery and assault attempts i have always defended my self with great success. If you are thinking of learning a martial art, i highly recomend it.

That's certainly no fun. There's nothing like a good piece of hickory, you know.

We host a budo seminar -- mostly aikido, hapkido, judo, and mixed arts. Sambo is great fun -- definitely a work-out. I teach aikido-based self defense a couple nights a week, but if there were a local Sambo school, I'd be all over it at least twice a week.
i know a guy that it swat now that trains sambo
