Does anyone have suggestions on a good pair/pairs of running shoes. I have a pair now that I have been using for a few months now. I haven't been having major problems, but when I went for my medical, the doctor suggested that I get a better pair because the arch on one foot is slightly higher than then other. She said it was not big deal as long as I had a good pair of running shoes

Any suggestions?

Personally, I use New Balance, but Asics are good as well. I used the NB throughout the academy with no problems.

I have to agree with Taz_bb2, I have had New Balance for years and I've always enjoyed them.

From my running experiance in high school and college I always used Asics...however all shoes are diffrent...I would suggest you go to a store like Running Fit, Sports Authority, or Dicks Sporting Goods (those are a few good stores in Michigan) and take in your old shoes. If the sales person knows anything about shoes he or she can tell you by the wear and tear on your old pair and what type would work best for you. Also, you should not just immediatly get rid of your old shoes when you get new ones...if you run four days a week (mabye Mon Wed Thu Fri) wear your old shoes on Mon's and Thu's and you new shoes on Wed's and Fri's for about two weeks until you break in and get used to your new shoes...if you go from old broken in shoes to stiff new ones you have a high probablility of getting shinsplints...which will sideline you for a quite abit of time...if you have any other questions let me know.

I got a pair of Asics GT-2110 running shoes a few weeks ago - my feet have never felt better. I'm a guy north of 250lbs., so running can take a toll, but my feet haven't hurt, been sore, or given me any problems. Nothing but support from those shoes...and they breathe very well, too...less smelly shoes.

I run 7.5 to 8 miles 6 days a week. I go through a lot of shoes!

I wear Asics and Nike, but switch on and off so my feet don't get used to wearing one type only. I cannot wear New Balance, my feet get severe blisters.

Bottom line, depends on the width, arch, proning of your feet. If you cannot find ones that are comfortable, go to a running store and have them fit you.

i agree with the recommendation to go to a running-specific store and be fitted. bring your current running shoes so they can take out the insoles and check your pronation. do you have arch supports? if you do, bring those too. personally, i hate New Balance and think they're way too heavy but that's me. try on a few different brands and see what is most comfortable to you, everyone is different.

I'm still trying to bring myself to shell out the hundred some-odd dollars needed to get a pair of Salomon GTX's but as for now, my tried-and-true Nike's will suffice.

I went to a running store and they spent about 30 minutes with me trying on different pairs of shoes and having me run around the parking lot in them. I bought a pair of sauconys. They felt really good. Hope they workout well once I start to work them in. Thanks for the help

Asics, New Balance and Adidas are the best ones. Nike is by far the least durable shoe. It all depends on how serious of a runner you are.

nike brought back the pegasus which is a great running shoe IMO. this is subjective and relative to the individual.

I'm not sure I would agree. My nikes have outlasted any pair of quality runners I've owned thus far, and I've owned quite a few.

I am 6'3" 220 and my feet take a beating when I run. I tried lots of shoes and have ended up with Adidas SuperNova Cusion shoes. If you buy them online you can save 30 dollars and get them for 60 bucks. By far the best running shoe in my opinion. I have an older pair that has 500 miles on them and I took them and compared them to other new brands and my old supernovas still had more cusion and comfort. Thats impressive.

I would have to say New Balace. Do not use nike, you buy nike you are buying a name. You buy New Balance you are buying comfort, durability, and reliability. I have bought about 5 pairs of new balance and they have all been great.

Nike don't really make running shoes for the serious runner. The Nike Pegasus is a decent shoe but the rest just don't last very long. On the other hand, New Balance and Asics make wonderful running shoes. I'm also a fan of the Asics Gel Kayano. If you want a cheaper alternative you can try the Asics Gel Nimbus. These are kind of expensive but it will last you for a while and it will be a good investment if you plan on running regularly.

I just got a pair of Nike Air Mimics from finishline.com for $49.99 plus shipping. I really love them. They fit great. They also look cool with the colors white, silver, and black. Totally recommend them!!

Goodyear Eagle GTS. :D

I had a buddy who owned a pair of workboots with Goodyear soles. It was actually a Good year tread pattern on the bottom. I have no idea what brand they were or where he got them from.
