Ok...first off let me apologize for all of the posts I am making lately...really want to start with this hobby, just want to get all the questions out of the way first.

I want to make a model of an ambulance here, but there are no blank models as far as I know. If I were to buy one already painted...how do I take the paint off, and how would I paint it white to put decals on it? I also have this question with police cars, what happens if the model is brown instead of white, how would i go about stripping and painting that?

Also, I like the look of honeycomb grills, but don't know how to get them or make them. Anyone know how to do this? Or am I stuck with the ones on the Whelly cars?

Does anyone know which model has the rear doors open, as well as the trunk?

can anyone help me with this one...or am I better of just sticking to white police cars...

thanks so much

Justin

Justin-

Can't help with the Ambulance part of your question, but I can try to help you with the police car part. To strip the paint off a metal body model you can buy a can of paint stripper at the hardware store. It comes in spray and brush on. I recommend spray - be sure to wear eye protection!! This should take most of the paint off. You might have to do it once or twice to get all the paint off (follow the directions). Then after all that primer the body & repaint the car the color you want.

I think you are stuck with the Welly grills - if you are building a 1/24 scale car. As far as I know the only cars that have the back doors & trunk that open are in 1/18 scale. If you are building a 1/18 car, you will have to make your own grill using speaker covers or the mesh from a 1/24 scale cage inside the cars. Hope this helps. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

Hey, that makes sense. I appreciate the response more than you know, thanks. I am just starting out with this and you can tell im pretty novice. I like the idea of model building, keeps me calm during the hectic times at school. It forces me to stay calm during finals and school assignments. I never knew the little hints about cars. I just might PM you later on with some questions, if you dont mind. I really do appreciate the response. Again thanks.

Take care
